Chapter Text
-X-men-
Pietro's day had started out pretty garbage to say the least...
First, he was rudely woken up with a "delightful" call from his "totally sweet and caring mother". She gave him the usual, "You're a disappointment, I wish you were dead, I should have shipped you off to a lab that deals with things like you..."
You can tell when someone was truly meant to be a mother and loves their child...so maternal.
After his heartwarming talk with his mother, he got ready for the rest of his day. Training, classes, more training, trying to work up the courage to admit to his totally not scary metal wielding father that he has a loser for a son...
After classes Pietro made his way down to the lounge area of the school and plopped in his usual seat next to Logan. The man groaned in faux irritation before scooting over slightly to make more room for him to comfortably sit.
Pietro gave Logan a slightly strained but genuine smile, causing the man to furrow his brows in concern.
"What's with the long face kiddo?"
Now, Pietro could tell Logan the truth...
'Oh, nothing much just my mother who you all don't know is super abusive called this morning basically threatening me and calling me a failure...but what else is new!'
Of course he didn't say that.
He must have taken too long to come up with an answer because he could suddenly feel the eyes of all the other X-men looking at him with equally worried expressions on their faces. Pietro's faced warmed up at the sudden attention, "I'm okay, just...I'm just not having a great day."
"Did something happen Pete?"
Pietro looked over at Scott and shook his head solemnly, "...n-no not really, I just...I feel like there's something weird in the air today. Like something's going to go wrong."
'Liar! You're moping because your mommy doesn't love you, and your daddy doesn't know you exist!'
Before anyone could reply to Pietro's worrisome answer, a loud crackling noise filled the air causing everyone to jump into defensive positions. They all looked toward the entrance of the school only to see an ominous purple portal.
Erik suddenly let out a sharp whistle, snapping everyone out of their confused states. "Everyone! Stay away from that thing, we don't know what it is or where it leads to!"
The portal gave another loud crackling sound, and then an eerie voice started to grow louder and louder.
"Is it fucking speaking?"
"What is it saying..."
The voice started getting louder, and as the volume grew from an almost whisper to a loud demand the faces of the X-men and co. turned ashen in dread.
Pietro.
Everyone immediately turned towards the boy in question, who seemed just as surprised as they were. Logan moved in front of him protectively, causing everyone else to surround the boy.
Pietro.
Suddenly the speedster clutched his head and whimpered in pain, before falling to his knees.
"Peter!"
"Peter tell us what's wrong!"
"Charles, what's happening?"
Pietrooo.
Suddenly Pietro's pained noises came to a sudden stop, the boy slowly looks up causing them all to gasp in surprise. Pietro's usually silver eyes have been replaced with a deep purple.
Jean points at him in shock, "His eyes! Someone is in his head...."
Suddenly Pietro stands up and starts walking towards the portal, almost as if he was in a trance. "Not so fast kid..." Logan moves in front of the boy grabbing his shoulders in an effort to stop his advancements towards the unknown entity.
Before anybody could move to help the man, a huge surge of energy sends all of them except Pietro flying backwards. As they all scramble to get up Pietro had already made great strides and was reaching out towards the portal.
They all scream at him to stop, hoping that they could get through to him.
But it was too late...
Lights shatter all around them, as a huge gust of wind suddenly cause all of the windows and doors to blast open. They all move to protect their faces from the shards of glass flying towards them.
The noise stops, and all they are left in is quiet...the only noises that could be heard were the panicked breaths of the X-men.
A shaky voice finally breaks the silence, "What just happened?"
