“Oh come on, another one?!?”
In Dialga’s Domain, a dimension that is both outside of time but also flowing with it, a bunch of Celebi were helping with timeline maintenance. Their jobs were simple - to make sure that the timelines remain healthy, to correct timelines about to run into a dead end, and to prune those timelines they couldn’t save.
This was what Celebi did for a living, but she was getting a bit annoyed. Of the timelines she was asked to monitor, more often than not they’d end up messed up or worse. And in this particular time…
“Why did she think it was a good idea to grab Pokémon from the past? She caused a Butterfree effect as a result, because somehow removing that one Pokémon from the past led to someone never being born, and thus…!”
Celebi growled and slammed her paws on the ground. She had seen these sorts of things before, but never had a timeline screwed up this bad.
At the very least, there was an easy fix to correct the timeline. Just… Have it where the ‘Time Machine’ the professor was using didn’t pull from the actual timeline, and that the Cyclizar from said timeline wouldn’t affect a certain Chosen One’s journey.
Although, now that she thought about it… Most of these timelines seemed to ‘die’ due to stuff involving the Chosen One. If he doesn’t make it for a Keystone Event, like for example the Shamouti Incident, then events would transpire to ruin the world. Of course, she knew the Shamouti Incident better than anyone - she was the one who had been tasked with delivering the prophecy of Shamouti. Although she decided to change it, because putting a subtle reference to the Chosen One’s name was something she would do.
This led to her having… an Idea...
“THIS IS A BAD IDEA,” Dialga replied when he heard the idea.
“No it's not! He would need all the help I can give to keep the timeline stable!” Celebi argued. “That, and it'll finally allow for some use of that one ball!”
Dialga paused on hearing this, taking time to think about how to respond… but his silence Celebi took as silent acceptance of the idea.
“K, thanks! I'll see you in about four or so years, if not sooner!” She remarked, and before Dialga would object, she vanished in a sparkle of green Aura.
“...MAYBE SHE NEEDS THIS TO LEARN HOW HER ACTIONS HAVE CONQUENCES…”
“Yeah, she's always been hyperactive and the like, huh?” Another Celebi flew in, having felt Celebi’s time travel jump. “She possibly doesn't realise that if she does use that ball, it'll anchor her to that timeline for at least a good eight years, and limit her powers… So perhaps this will be a learning experience for her.”
“CAN YOU CHECK IF-?”
“Already on it, boss… Huh, there's some massive deviation spikes in the timeline she's just about to insert herself into, and… Well, let's just say that if this timeline kept on going the way it would have, it would have been dead before the first major Keystone Event… But… There it is.”
“SHE'S IN THE GS BALL NOW?”
“Yes, and just with that action alone… Almighty Sinnoh, if I didn't know any better…” The Celebi sighed. “I'll be on standby to jump in just in case. We can't have a repeat of that incident…”
“AND YOU WILL KEEP THE OTHERS UP TO DATE?”
The Celebi smiled a bit. “What do you think I'm doing right now, boss? True, for them it may be longer relatively to get the updates, but you know how Arc and Tina are. They will know as soon as possible, as will anyone else who needs to know.”
“EVEN THEM?”
“Even them, boss, but I think I'll leave it here for now. Gotta keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't cause any more trouble…”
