Good thing she's not alone.

Notes:

Takes place 2 months after Devil on my Shoulder story from the Devil's Advocate Cannon.
Probably goes without saying but naturally this isn't "Cannon" compliant and pulls from many existing cannons.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Prologue: Back in the Field

“I want the record to show that I’m emphatically against this,” Director Light informed the man sitting across the table from her.

“Your opinion is noted Director.”

“She isn’t ready, it’s only been two months since she appeared alive again and we haven’t even figured out how yet,” Light huffed, “What we need is to—”

“The World needs the Foundation, Director Light,” The man stood and began pacing the room, “The Foundation needs Alpha-9 and Alpha-9 needs Commander Thompson.”

“I won’t allow it.”

“You have no say in this,” The man sighed, “The Council already voted.”

“Bastards.”

“It’s a simple transfer mission,” The man stated, “The skip being transported has memetic properties that 105 naturally resists, it’s a walk in the park compared to…”

“The mission that got her killed,” Light finished, “She’s still livid over Leora and Rainer being recruited to A-9 after that went down.”

“I’m aware.”

“A walk in the park?”

“Director Light we aren’t stupid,” The man adjusted his glasses, “This mission was picked with the intention of easing SCP-105 back into things.”

“When does she leave?”

“We want her in Korea in three days,” The man answered, “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a lot of things to do today and not much time to do them.”

“Can I at least know what skip she’ll be dealing with?” Light asked, “She’s going to ask, and I’d like to have an answer.”

“SCP-1953-KO, containment level Euclid.” The man responded blankly, “The rest is on a need-to-know basis.”

Director Light watched the man leave the interview room before groaning; she was not looking forward to her next conversation with Iris.

Director Thaddeus Knight walked bristly through the halls of Site 17, his meeting with Director Light had gone as poorly as he’d expected. As he entered the meeting room he’d been instructed to, a chill went down his spine.

“05-2,” He greeted.

“Hello Thaddeus, how did your meeting with Light go?”

He felt his eye twitch, the old woman knew exactly how it went, but he knew better than to point that out.

“Poorly, Director Light was not pleased and before you ask, because I know you will, I don’t fully disagree with her,” He readjusted his tie, “We’ve been given a rare second chance and I fear we’re risking it by acting too soon.”

“What does the rest of the Ethics Committee think?”

“Their opinions are mixed, just like the Council,” He sighed.

“There’s something else on your mind,” 05-2 smiled.

“Are we sure bringing the girl here is the best course of action?” Thaddeus grimaced, “The connection between her and SCP-953 is undeniable and—”

“It was here or Site 19,” 05-2 stated pointedly, “This was the best option available.”

“All of this does make me wonder, why are you here instead of Ten?” Thaddeus questioned, “Alpha-9 was and remains her prerogative.”

“Let’s just say,” The woman known as 05-2 smirked, “I have my own reasons.”
