Chapter Text
Welp, here we go again, and this time with something that's been on my mind for a bit. A Random Power fic. Was debating on turning this into a fic or a Live, but I decided on fic. Who knows, maybe I'll go Live with this idea as well?
But, that's for the future. Instead, let's get right into it!
I don't own MHA or any other franchise that may pop up. Please support all official releases.
Also, shout out to YiteWrite for the idea. Go check him out if you like this, as more then likely, you'll like what he does.
Anderson's POV
My eyes blink open as I take in my surroundings, with my mind trying to comprehend what exactly just happened.
It was simple, really, but it was still hard to come to terms with the fact that I died.
Well, at least I was supposed to be dead, and I would have been if it wasn't for the simple fact that I got reincarnated by some kind of… system? Was that the right term?
It is. Welcome to the Random Power System, Host.
A bright blue box flashed in front of my face. Seems I was right. It was a system.
The blue box continued.
As the name implies, this system revolves around giving you random powers of varying degrees of power. How you get more powers is simple. Obtain feats. The harder the feat, the more powers you'll have to choose from, and the stronger they'll be.
Since you are just starting out, we'll give you three sets of three Powers to choose from, with the powers ranging from a strength of 1-5.
The blue box informed me, and just as I got done reading it, another wall of text appeared.
Please choose a power.
Bio-Lightning - Generate lightning from the body to strike enemies or power machinery. (Power Strength: 1)
Oil Generation - The power to generate and manipulate oil or oily substances. (Power Strength: 4)
Fire and Heat Manipulation - Ability to control the kinetic energy of atoms to generate, control, or absorb fire. (Power Strength: 5)
I didn't exactly know what kind of situation I was in, but looking around, I was under a small bridge of some kind with the warm sun still out, with no one around at the moment. Hell, I didn't even know where the System took me.
I'll have to figure that out later, but right now I had a choice to make, and after thinking it over, my choice was quite obvious.
While the Bio-Lightning would definitely be fun, it just wasn't all that powerful, and while Oil Generation was pretty beefy, it just didn't interest me as much as the last, and much cooler sounding power, Fire and Heat Manipulation.
I could think of multiple situations where something like that could be really useful. So, mentally focusing on it, I select Fire and Heat Manipulation.
Fire and Heat Manipulation: Power Strength: 5 has been selected.
Please choose another power.
Ice Barrage: Launch a barrage of ice shards to freeze and slow your enemies. (Power Strength: 3)
Time Distortion: Slow down or speed up time in your immediate area.(Power Strength: 4)
Ember Strike: Unleash a flurry of burning strikes that ignite anything they touch.(Power Strength: 4)
Again, it was another easy selection. While Ice Barrage would be interesting, it sure wasn't as cool or as powerful as Time Distortion, and I already had a fire power, so I didn't need Ember Strike.
So once again, I mentally focused and selected Time Distortion.
Time Distortion: Power Strength: 4 has been selected.
Please choose another power.
Reactive Adaptation/Evolution: The ability to develop resistance or immunity to any substance, force, or condition they have been harmed or affected by. (Power Strength: 3)
Electric Conductivity: The ability to channel or control electricity. (Power Strength: 1)
Nail Manipulation: The ability to control and alter nails, whether those of oneself, others, or in any location. (Power Strength: 2)
Again, another easy choice. Reactive Adaptation/Evolution was just too good to pass up, and the other options weren't all that good anyway.
So, for the third and final time, I mentally selected Reactive Adaptation/Evolution.
Reactive Adaptation/Evolution: Power Strength: 3 has been selected.
Good luck Host.
And with that, the blue box disappeared, leaving me to myself.
Now the question was, what was I going to do? I had no idea where the System sent me, and other than the basics, my memory has been wiped as well.
Well, I guess I could walk around-
"Give me all your money lady, or I swear I'll shoot!" I was broken from my thoughts from a gruff male voice sounding out not too far from me. In fact, all I had to do was look to my left to see what was happening. Though I did ask myself just when they got here.
What I saw was a strange sight. It was a woman with a completely normal body except for the black horns growing out of her hand being mugged by a pretty short guy with a literal gun for a hand, and based on the diameter of his literal gun hand, it was a pretty big caliber at that.
The woman just whimpered and quickly reached into her purse to retrieve her wallet while the guy robbing her looked around finicky, like he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.
Well, I guess I know what I'm doing right now.
Getting up from my sitting position (Seriously, how the hell have they not seen me?) I cautiously approached the guy as I focused on my first power. My Fire and Heat Manipulation Power.
Heating up literal atoms was a strange experience, but I quickly got over it as a fireball began to form in my hand.
…However, it was my inexperience in this kind of thing, the woman flickering her eyes my way, and the glow of the fireball in the somewhat dark underpass of the bridge that something went wrong.
The man turned his eyes towards me and his eyes widened as I chucked the fireball right at his face. He wasn't idle himself though as he quickly swung his gun hand right at me, and just as my fireball made contact with his face, his gun hand fired and a scream of agony came from the guy.
Not even a second later, a golf ball sized hole exploded in my right shoulder as I was thrown to the ground in pure agony.
I was actually lucky, as on instinct, as soon as the guy fired, I activated Time Manipulation and I was just able to turn my body to where I would be shot in the right shoulder, as if I hadn't, the bullet would have directly hit my heart. I don't think my Adaptation could come back from that.
Hell, I don't think I can come back from this if the scream of the woman and the rapidly increasing pool of blood was any indication.
Still though, despite the mind shattering pain coming from my right shoulder, I was somewhat happy. I saved that woman, and that was all that matters really. Now, I just needed a hospital, like, right now.
Feat Achieved: Defeat your first villain. (Select one power from a set of three powers. Power Strength will vary from 1-3.)
Please select a power.
Kinetic Vision - The ability to perceive kinetic energy and motion visually. (Power Strength: 2)
Astral Surge: Surge with astral energies that grant flight and celestial sight. (Power Strength: 1)
Electric Sound Generation: The ability to produce sound through electrical energy. (Power Strength: 1)
If it wasn't for the fact that I was writhing on the ground in mind shattering pain, I would be celebrating the fact that I actually defeated my first villain. But that wasn't the case, instead, I just weakly selected the second power because It was the one that sounded the best after a very brief glance. I was just in too much pain to really think properly about it right now.
Just before I passed out, I heard a loud, feminine voice sound out not far from me. I didn't get a good look as my vision started to go black, but before that happened I saw a short, very beautiful browned-skinned woman with long white hair and bunny ears on top of her head, with her eyes scanning the area sharply, trying to discern what happened.
The last thing I saw were her red eyes widening in slight panic at my state as she rushed towards me.
Hopefully she will get me to a hospital.
Mirko's POV
It had been a somewhat quiet day for Mirko, all things considered.
Stopped a mugging here, stopped a robbery there, broke up a few delinquents loitering around; an all around quiet day for her, even if the man committing the robbery did put up a fight, though he was no match for her. Not in the slightest.
Usually she would be annoyed at such a slow, boring day, but after her long trip to UA, she was actually quite glad for it. Brats they may be, but those kids in Class 3A knew how to throw some punches, that's for sure.
She was actually just about to end her patrolling when she heard the unforgettable sound of a gun firing, followed by a woman screaming in absolute terror.
She turned on a dime from atop the roof she was on and made a bee-line straight towards where she heard the noise come from; a small, out of the way bridge.
The woman was still screaming bloody murder, and as she got closer, she picked up on a few things.
One, she was able to smell three people with her enhanced sense of smell. One woman and two men if she wasn't mistaken. Though, that wasn't the main thing she was concerned about. It was the other two smells, the smell of gunpowder, and the smell of burnt flesh that made her kick herself into high gear.
And two, there were groans of pain that she was able to hear, and using context clues, she was able to figure out the reason. One man got shot, while the other had his flesh burned.
She didn't envy the two, that's for certain.
She slammed into the ground when she arrived as her eyes quickly scanned the scene, and near instantly she pieced together what more than likely happened.
The woman currently clutching her purse and hugging the stone wall of the bridge like her life depended on it, was staring wide eyed in shock and fear at the guy closest to her.
Said man was currently moaning in pain, and after a quick overview, she was able to determine why and it made her grimace.
His face had severe, third degree burns, and by the looks of it the heat caused him to go blind in both eyes. Along with it, a good majority of his hair was also burned off, and she could see that the back of his head was bleeding from more than likely falling to the ground and busting his head.
Looking at his literal gun hand and the proximity to the woman, she guessed that the guy was robbing her before getting a face full of fire, which led her to the second person.
The second guy was a tall young man with short black hair, who currently had a golfball sized hole in his right shoulder, and from the looks of it was bleeding out rapidly.
She put together what happened rapidly as she ran to the young man before picking him up and slinging him over her shoulder.
Turning around and approaching the other man, she called out to the terrified woman, "Stay here and call the police. When they arrive, tell them exactly what happened, got it?"
Said woman just nodded numbly as her shaky hands reached into her purse to retrieve her phone.
Seeing that she was calling the authorities, Mirko made out of the underpass with post-haste at blistering speeds, bee-lining it for one of, if not the best, healer in the world.
She just hoped she would make it in time.
Nezu's POV
"This is certainly… interesting" Nezu muttered to himself as he overlooked the report he was given.
It had been a few hours since Mirko burst through the gates of his school, with two heavily injured people in hand.
She blitzed through the school like a hot knife through butter, nearly running into a few of the students along the way, though thankfully that was avoided.
He would have been more mad at his former student for such a display, if it wasn't for the fact that she made the right call in bringing the two of them here.
Their injuries were pretty substantial, and they both may have very well died if she hadn't gotten them here when she did.
The first man that Recovery Girl attended to had severe third degree burns across the entirety of his face, and along with it, he also lost his eyesight as well, despite her best efforts.
While she was perhaps the best healer on the planet, there was still only so much she could do, and the man's face was just too burned for her to do much else. According to her, he would be in pain for the rest of his life.
The other man, a mere kid, because that's what he was, was also injured, though not to the same extent.
Sure, there was a golf ball sized hole in his right shoulder that was heavily bleeding… but not as much as it should have.
In fact, by the time Recovery Girl got to the young man, he was actually almost done bleeding completely. Not so much that Recovery Girl didn't heal him as he was still not looking good, but considering the amount of damage there should have been, he was remarkably fine. So much so that he was expected to make a full recovery.
Though it did leave the question as to just what his quirk was. Even more pressingly than that, they had no idea who the kid was. They searched all the databases in Japan, and couldn't get a name. So, they switched to international, and surprisingly enough, they still couldn't get one. It was as if the kid just… popped in out of nowhere.
A pressing matter for sure, one which Nezu really wanted to get to the bottom of, but that would have to wait for the young man to wake up. The other guy had already been transferred to a different hospital after Recovery Girl stabilized him, and was currently waiting for the police to take him to prison when he was fit. He saw the police report, and even the security cam footage of the kid was brutal, but he was within his right to save the woman. No charges would be pressed against him, that he was certain.
Just then, the phone on his desk beeped. With practiced motion, Nezu picked up the phone while still reading the report.
"This is Principal Nezu." He said calmly.
"Nezu, he's awake." The voice of Recovery Girl came over the phone.
Automatically he closed the case file and swung his chair around, a more determined look coming over his face, "I'll be right there"
With a simple "Hmm", she hung up on him.
Hanging up himself, instead of immediately leaving, he dialed another number first.
After a few rings, the phone was picked up, and the sound of a gruff male voice came through, "This is All Might."
"It seems our ward has awoken. Would you mind escorting me?" Nezu asked in his natural voice.
All Might sputtered for a moment, though he quickly found his voice, "Of course, sir! I'll be there right away!"
Nezu just nodded, even if the gesture couldn't be seen, "I'll see you in a bit then." With that, he hung up the phone and sat back in his chair, his mind returning to the mysterious young man in his nurses office.
Welp, there you go, there's the chapter. I hope you enjoyed it!
Now, with that out of the way, let me tell you something. Writers Block. Is. A. Bitch.
Legitimately, for a good month straight, I couldn't write NOTHING. Absolutely zero. Nilch. Whatever other synonym you have for zero. I. Just. Couldn't. Write.
It didn't help that one of my cats had to be put down, so that sucked. Don't know what was really wrong with him, but my money is personally on cancer. Speaking of which, this chapter is dedicated to him. RIP King, you will be missed.
Even with this chapter i had trouble writing. There WAS gling to be another POV from Anderson with him talking to Nezu and All Might, but no matter how hard I tried, i just couldn't get the words to flow. Dont know if that'll happen next chapter or not. Might just give a summary and get rigjt into the meat of the stuff, lol.
But, enough with all that depressing stuff!
I have a channel on the SGO server, so if you have any suggestions and want to talk with me directly, then please, stop on by! I'd love to hear whatever you got!
Same as usual, if you have any suggestions, then please, let me know. I take all your feedback seriously, so don't be afraid to throw something out there.
Again, tell me what you liked and didn't like. It helps me immensely when you give that kind of feedback, so please, don't hold back and be as blunt as possible!
But, that's all I got for you for now, so, until next time, and have an amazing day!
