Work Text:
The foot pressing on his throat made it difficult for him to think about anything else than the person in front of him.
He had been careless, as usual. He played the game and lost. It isn't something new, he played and lost before, but Stone couldn't deny the thrill it gave him.
He'd be foolish to think the Doctor hasn't noticed his particular eagerness to get punished. Not that he was particularly seeking for it, but he had the habit of winding up the Doctor just enough to be shoved into a wall or taken by the teeth, and this time it had been much the same. He didn't purposefully make mistakes, God forbid he actually does one day, Dr. Robotnik would actually kill him, the Doctor is just easy to anger and he always played his cards just right so this could get physical.
He hadn't really meant it to go this far though, and this made it much more thrilling, it was a slight comment about one of the Doctors projects he already forgot that put him in this situation, and he didn't complain.
"Are you even listening to me you waste of space." Stone could feel the leather dress shoe press harder onto his throat and he had to physically stop himself from shivering.
"Sorry-" he gasped out and Robotnik rolled his eyes.
"Who told you to speak, barnacle." He furrowed his eyebrows, an angry snarl on his lips. "If I were a simpler man I'd take your lack of attention for disrespect, but I think we both know the reason."
Lust? The agent's brain supplied, unhelpfully.
"Your lack of neurons of course, your sheer stupidity is a scientific wonder." The Doctor continued, not noticing the effect his words had on the Agent. "Really, it makes me wonder why I even bother keeping you around in the lab." He scoffed.
Stone could feel himself get dizzy from the pressure on his throat and he bit his tongue to suppress a noise threatening to escape. The Doctor could kill him at any given moment, he only had to press him full weight into his leg and he would no longer be. That thought only worsened his condition.
"You can't even do a job right and you have the nerve to talk to me, the Doctor Ivo Robotnik? It disgust me how embarrassingly shameless you are." He released the pressure slightly, and the Agent breathed greedily.
The breath he was allowed to take was a reminder that, no matter what he did, the doctor preferred him alive. If it was due to the fact the Doctor still needed his assistance or some sort of affection for Stone, he didn't know. He probably never would, but it was enough. It's enough to know he's needed, in some way.
God he's pathetic, being this down bad for his boss.
"Here you go in that worthless mind of yours again." Robotnik spat. "Are you still searching for a clever way to criticize my work once again, is that it Agent?"
Stone merely shook his head, his eyes pleading for the Doctor to believe him.
"Use your words." He pressed harder on his throat once again.
"I-im not sir, your work is magnificent." He gasped out, the pressure hard to manage.
"Why did you think you were in a place to say anything about what I do?" The Doctor smirked, a cruel glint in his eyes that made Stone involuntarily shiver.
"I-im dumb and pathetic and w-wanted to feel important." He said, breathless, his self degradation feeling filthy on his tongue.
"It seems that two of your neurons decided to start working!" He said, patronising. "Good job Stone, you did it! You managed to think!"
A praise is a praise. He accidentally let out a desperate little sound.
Robotnik eyed him curiously before rolling his eyes. "That was sarcastic, Stone."
The Agent only smiled shakily. It seemed to be the wrong move since Robotnik removed his weight from him, leaving what must be a red imprint on his throat.
Stone stood straighter, looking at his boss with a questioning glance. The scientist just stood there, his eyebrows furrowed, the way the agent knew he was deep in thought.
"Stand up." He said.
The Agent complied, his legs almost buckling due to his predicament.
The doctor looked him up and down, stopping where Stone is obviously bothered, before coming back up to meet Stone's gaze.
"Pin yourself to the wall."
Stone's back was instantly pressed against the lab's wall, his hand resting on his throat just like he knew the Doctor liked.
Robotnik got closer, his step careful. Nothing like when the doctor is usually angry, this is calculated, predatory even. Stone's heart jumped when he felt his hand being replaced by Robotnik's very own, pressing harder.
"You're nothing to me." He said angrily, and Stone held his breath. "You are not needed."
The doctor was just face to face with him now, and he could feel his breath on his face. Stone glanced down for just a moment at his boss's lips before glancing back up. It did not go unnoticed.
"I could kill you."
The doctor was studying him and his reactions to his words. He watched as Stone's breathing became shallower, how the tent in his pants became unbearable. He watched it all with some sort of scientific wonder, and Stone felt like a lab rat being experimented on.
Stone's knees were weak. And it was not alleviated by the fact that he could feel Robotnik's gloved hand on his waist, pulling them both closer, hips to hips.
He did not know if he had a death wish or if it was due to the adrenaline coursing through his veins, but he leaned into the touch, brushing their hips closer together.
The Doctor inhaled sharply.
"You're an idiot, Stone." He scoffed after a few seconds of silence, glaring at him. "A really dumb one at that."
"I know." The Agent smiled.
The Doctor made a disgusted face looking at the smile and pressed his hand harder on the Agent's throat. Stone could feel the control buttons of the Badnik press onto his Adams apple.
"Freak." There was no real bite to the word.
Your freak, Stone wanted to say, but he bit his tongue and remained silent.
It was at that moment that the phone Stone usually kept for business matters rang, and Robotnik jumped, before moving away from the pinned Agent like he was just caught stealing.
Stone let the phone rang, the agent and the scientist both looked at each other.
"Are you stupid? Make that thing shut up!" Robotnik suddenly snapped.
The Agent muttered an apology before taking the call. He quickly took the information whatever the government person was giving him, hoping to end the call as fast as possible.
He truly didn't want for this moment to end, he truly didn't want to lose the Doctor's attention on him. But it was too late, when he finally hung up, Robotnik was already back on his desk, resuming his work with the discarded Badnik, his hand running in his hair in what Stone can only assume is frustration.
Gaining the doctor's attention was one thing, maintaining it was another. Only a single interruption could stop his current interest, and Stone had to learn to live with the disappointments it entailed. But if it let him see the doctor's genius up close, if it let him feel the doctor's gaze on him, then it's all worth it. He wouldn't trade this for anything else.
