As Long as You’re Happy

Summary:

Izuku and Katsuki were arranged to marry and unite their kingdoms. War came in-between them, putting all plans on hold.

Why was he so nervous? It was Kacchan. They’d known each other for years. Slowly Izuku lifted his gaze and instantly swallowed hard.

The features he had picked up on from afar were even more prominent this close. Kacchan had grown up to be such a handsome omega. The joy and pride Izuku felt was almost too much, his heart was beating out of his chest.

Work Text:

When Izuku was just a mere pup his father ran off. He was too scared of the unstable lands and wars that always burned their crops and killed their livestock. It devastated his mother so much that she nearly died from her drop.

Izuku cared for their ruined lands and his mother the best he could. Life was rough for a young pup who was barely eight. His mother recovered slowly, but she couldn’t do as much work as before.

Sometimes dreams come true. That’s what Izuku learned young. The King arrived in town one spring, bringing in resources, soldiers and wealth. With the King came all the things a peasant farmer could only have daydreams of.

King Yagi fell hard for one Midoriya Inko, Izuku’s mother. The rebuilding effort of the town brought them ever so much closer and Izuku’s life was changed forever.

In a few months he moved into the capital to live a rich life. He had everything a eleven year old could wish for.

Even love.

Izuku blushed at the mere thought as he imagined another royal he’d now met twice. Prince Bakugou from another kingdom.

The brash young boy was definitely a leader and someone Izuku admired instantly from the first moment their eyes met. They spent all the time together they could, running around, Katsuki pranking the elders and other kids and Izuku? He was happy to be included, being the one who got blamed yet he didn’t care since the grin on Katsuki’s face was worth it every time.

After their presentation at thirteen it was quickly announced that the two were destined to mate. Arranged marriage to unite the kingdom’s. The ceremony would be held shortly after they’d both turned eighteen.

Izuku was thrilled. Katsuki liked to complain, a prominent scowl on his face, but Izuku could tell that he was happy too.

The two continued to spend time together whenever their families would travel to each other's kingdoms. Usually it was only twice a year, and Izuku waited for every visit with excitement.

When they turned fifteen he started courting Kacchan, not really sure how to. He got advice from his mother and stepfather.

Maybe they were still a little too young for such things since Izuku didn’t quite understand the meaning of all his gifts. But whenever Kacchan accepted them Izuku chirped happily.

After the first year Izuku had the chance to give out his own gifts. No more help, only something he thought Kacchan would like. A fluffy pillow and a scented candle, mixed to capture Izuku’s alpha scent into it.

Those gifts were the last things Izuku gave before another war struck. Both boys were the age deemed capable to fight. They didn’t get to say goodbyes, no goodlucks, both stuck in their own kingdoms and between borders, fighting against hostile nations.

They didn’t have a chance to meet for over five years. Izuku thought his dream had surely crumbled like weeks old bread. After all the rebuilding in the East he returned to his Kingdom. When he got back, His king, his father, informed him that the wedding three years due would be held in a month's time.

His heart beat fast, his mind soared high and happy chirp escaped his lips. Maybe he’d get his happily ever after after all.

“Did you bag everything dear?” His mother asked for the umpteenth time for the past hour.

“Mom, I'm fine. Even if I miss something I can just buy them once I’m there,” Izuku reassured. His mother looked a little bashful and Izuku couldn't stop the little shake of his head. Always a worrier.

“I’m going to be okay. We’ll see each other again in a couple of weeks anyway.” He opened up his arms to welcome his sniffling mother. He held her tightly, almost lifting her tinier form off the ground while doing so.

Inko wept into his clean shirt, but Izuku let her do so. It had always been hard for her to let him leave her sight. Wars weren’t easy and even when he wasn’t leaving for battle, crossing borders was always risky. And thieves loved mugging travelers.

Izuku was sentimental too, but not as badly as her mother. It did hurt to leave again so soon. He’d just returned from the war after all. And to be instantly thrown back into the life he had before, ready to now get married…

If he wasn’t so excited and nervous about seeing Kacchan again, he’d surely burst into tears in his mothers arms at this moment.

He would miss his home and mother eventually, but that feeling would surface later. He’d see his mother in a few weeks when she arrived in the Bakugou kingdom after him.

Izuku’s breath hitched as he stepped off the carriage. The city before him was gorgeous.

“I was instructed to drive you all the way to the Castle, sir.”

Izuku turned around, shaking his head. “I want to look around a bit if that’s okay. You can wait or take my things and I’ll walk,” he smiled. He wanted to see Kacchan, but he needed more time. His heart was not going to take the stress of sitting down for hours, days and then jumping right into meeting the love of his life. He was sure some sightseeing would relax his mind a little. This was going to be his home after all.

“If you’re sure,” the driver grunted. “I’m tasked to keep you safe, so I’ll get beheaded if something happens to you.”

“Oh,” Izuku bit his lip. He didn’t want to cause any trouble to anyone. “Then just follow me. I want to walk to the castle.”

And that’s how the rest of his journey through the city went. Trailed by a wagon, Izuku greeted the people left and right. Most recognized him, which he didn’t expect. Some war stories must’ve spread. Especially about his hair since some kid did call him the green headed savior which only made Izuku giggle.

When the castle got closer and closer the tension returned to his shoulders. It had been years since he’d seen Kacchan. Was he still the same man he fell for? The same gruff omega who took no shit from anyone and swept Izuku off his feet even when they were mere kids?

Izuku squeezed his shirt over his chest. He was sure of his own feelings. He hadn’t thought about any other omega the same way as he did Kacchan. War had kept his mind busy, but even in any downtime, he couldn't forget Kacchan.

Kacchan had always been the one for him.

Izuku did not expect to be greeted by the Bakugous as soon as he got past the castle gates. There were a few people in line, a whole long carpet, and below the steps were familiar faces. His palms were suddenly sweaty and Izuku quickly wiped them on his pants.

He stood there, until something wet hit his neck. Izuku jolted with a yelp, turning to look at the horse starting to nibble on his shirt.

“Sir, you’re blocking the gate,” his driver said, getting Izuku fully out of his stupor. Right.

Izuku smiled and apologized, turning around. His gaze instantly locked onto carmine, piercing through him and his knees felt weak. Kacchan was still stunning. From this far he couldn’t see well enough, but he could still observe the omega had matured. Stronger jaw, more defined muscle. The confidence that seeped from him seemed to be the same.

Izuku walked as steadily as he could, trying to focus on the hushed murmurs from the sides and the steady creaks from the carriage accompanied by the horses' steps. Those disappeared too soon, when the carriage stopped by the start of the carpet. Some of the people hurried behind him, which Izuku assumed was to carry his luggage.

“Izuku,” Mitsuki smiled at him warmly. By her side was her husband, Masaru, who was also smiling so kindly it made some of Izuku’s worries settle.

“Hi auntie. Hi uncle,” Izuku bowed to them both in respect.

“Too bad your mother didn’t want to come early. We wanted to throw an engagement party tonight.” Mitsuki sighed.

“She’ll be arriving in two weeks. Maybe we can have it then?” Izuku was more than okay with some small talk. He could feel the red eyes bore into his skull, yet he didn’t dare to look at them.

“That’s perfect! Let us know the exact date and we’ll get on the planning. I know we had a party years ago, but I think we’re due another,” Mitsuki chuckled.

“Always down for parties,” Masaru sighed and shook his head lightly. “We’ll make sure your things get to your room. You can ask anyone to escort you there once you’re ready. Our staff is all instructed to treat you like part of the family.”

“Thank you. I’m a bit tired from the journey so I’ll be going there soon.” Izuku bowed again, the Bakugous doing the same.

When the parents and all the staff that had gathered started to move inside Izuku still felt the gaze on him. He tried to take a deeper whiff of the air to get a sense of what Kacchan was feeling, but everyone’s scents were still too much present.

“Ya just here to meet my parents?” Kacchan snarled, showing his big canines and breaking the ice. Izuku laughed a little, smiling sheepishly.

“Not really. And you know why I’m here Kacchan,” Izuku hummed. His heart was still beating rapidly. “We haven’t seen each other in years. I’m being cautious.”

“Coward,” Kacchan hissed, yet a hint of a pleased scent hit him right after. Oh how he had missed the omegas scent. Involuntarily his eyes closed as his mind chased the scent.

“Mm, guess I am.” Izuku let out a deep sigh. “I’m glad you and your parents survived the war. And I’m happy to be here, Kacchan.”

“Yea yea. Glad you survived too or whatever.”

Izuku beamed. Kacchan seemed to act like he used to. Standoffish and well, caring in his own way. They should still talk about the whole marriage thing. It never was their decision after all. And even if it always felt right, years had passed by. They’d both changed and grown.

“I’ll be in your care,” Izuku bowed to Kacchan who scoffed.

“Stop being so formal. Pisses me off,” he grunted. “Go change. You stink. The servants will help you to your room. There’s dinner in a few hours. I bet someone will give you the schedule even if you don’t ask.”

Izuku nodded. Clearly this greeting was good enough for the omega. Izuku on the other hand had hoped for a little bit more. He’d at least wanted a bit of that soothing scent on himself.

So without thinking he reached out to grab Kacchan’s garments into his hand before he got too far.

“Um. Might be a bit sudden, but could I scent you? Oh, the other way around, or I guess it's more of an exchange, but if you would please it would help me relax a bit this is all so new after all and I–”

“Nerd. Stop rambling, fucking gimme your wrist,” Kacchan grunted and grabbed Izuku’s hand on his own instantly.

Izuku watched as Kacchan deliberately ran their wrists against each other. The motion did wonders to his mind quickly. Even though Kacchan kept scowling the whole time, Izuku felt him relax too.

“Thank you Kacchan,” Izuku smiled when Kacchan let go.

“Whatever.”

And with that they both walked inside. Each going their own way.

The room he was assigned to was huge. Definitely bigger than what he had at home. And all the furniture and decor looked expensive.

Izuku did what he was told and bathed, even if it made his alpha whine. The sweet scent of his omega was washed away too soon. He would need a new scenting, if Kacchan allowed it.

He knew they weren’t exactly mates yet. Izuku didn’t really know what to call them. But a friendly scenting shouldn’t be too much to ask at this stage. In the end it was the same kind you’d do with your friends when you got together and all.

Izuku picked up fresh clothes from his bags but when he settled them on the bed he realized there was a neatly folded pile of clothes waiting for him. Curiously Izuku eyed them and shrugged. Maybe Mitsuki was yet again adamant about what was being worn at the dinner table. Izuku remembered the way he had to change up to something way too fancy in the past when dining with the Bakugou’s.

He chuckled lightly while grabbing the clothes put out for him. The pants were loose and comfortable and a lovely dark, almost black blue. There was no undershirt for the long gold embroidered, green tunic so Izuku hesitated a bit. He bit his lip, pondering if he should wear one anyway.

His fingers felt over the fabric. It was soft enough, so maybe he’d be okay. He traced over some of the patterns, observing the way the beautiful flower and vine design moved around.

Izuku didn’t hesitate any longer and pulled the tunic over his head. The motion made him dizzy, since a subtle scent of cinnamon and smoke hit his nose.

His mouth was watering instantly and it made him flush. Was it not Mitsuki after all? Were these given by Kacchan since they were scented…?

Izuku groaned, lifting the fabric to his nose. Now he wished he had given Kacchan something that had his scent. Though if the omega didn’t wash his glands he’d still have Izuku’s scent on him.

When Izuku was pointed towards a dinner hall he felt good. He was optimistic about the future. Even if he had been scared that maybe Kacchan didn’t actually want him like that anymore he didn’t think so now. With one scented thing it was obvious to him that the omega was at least a little bit possessive. It made Izuku’s alpha reel in happiness.

But once he got close to the dining hall he froze. There in the corridor was Kacchan and someone else. From the looks of the clothes it was probably a guard. Izuku didn’t want to eavesdrop, but he couldn’t shake the odd feeling in his stomach.

The pair was so close to each other. Kacchan had never been one to let anyone touch him yet there was this redhead, touching and scenting the omega.

Friends could scent each other like that right? Izuku tried to reason with himself, but his alpha whined when he noticed it was the same wrist he had scented just a few hours earlier.

And when the red head leaned closer to Kacchan’s neck, Izuku’s eyes stung with incoming tears. He couldn’t exactly see what was happening, but he could guess easily. He was sure the guard was an alpha with a build like that. And no beta had such prominent, flashy canines.

He turned around to hide behind a pillar to calm himself.

He swiped his eyes to his sleeves and took a shaky breath. Oh how wrong had he been. This whole marriage would be a burden to Kacchan, a formality. Of course. Years had passed and such a perfect omega would never stay single this long.

Izuku steeled his emotions the best he could. He needed to get through dinner first and think later. All he knew right now was the fact that he didn’t want to stay in the way of Kacchan’s happiness.

The dinner was awkward to say the least. Izuku tried his best to converse with everyone else but Kacchan. The omega kept scowling at him and Izuku just smiled and nodded while rushing to put into other conversations.

When the dinner was over he didn’t stay and excused himself as soon as it was appropriate. He didn’t want to be left alone with Kacchan right now. He wasn’t confident in his ability to not say something he’d later regret.

And the fact that he saw the redhead linger by the doorway did not sway his decision. His chest felt tight and once he passed the alpha guard he sprinted all the way back to his room.

“Fuck!” Izuku cursed for the first time in months. He hardly ever cursed. It was not a thing he did. Yet when a violent sob burst out of him he couldn’t do anything else.

He’d been so fucking stupid to hope. Five years were a long time. It wasn’t a given that neither of them would’ve survived the war. Nor that their kingdom’s would still remain allies after.

Now more than ever he’d need to talk with Kacchan. Go over how this was going to work.

And even with that thought in his mind he couldn’t bring himself to talk to Kacchan. Every time they met in the halls Izuku avoided him.

“Hey, I’ve seen you come to train everyday! Mind if I join you?”

Izuku swiped sweat off his forehead and turned around. To his misfortune it was the red haired guard who he really didn’t want to be close to either. It took a lot of effort for him not to snarl and bare his teeth to the alpha.

“Um, hi. Sorry, I was just wrapping up for today,” Izuku apologized. In truth he had only done his stretches and light jogging in preparation to fully train. But he really didn’t want to stay. He could skip his work out for one day.

“Oh? I saw you from the window by my post. Short work out day then?” the alpha questioned.

“Y-yea. Something like that,” Izuku muttered. Gosh he was still really bad at lying so he tried to avoid the other alphas' gaze.

“Man that sucks. And here I thought I’d get a good workout going today straight after shift. Maybe tomorrow then? I’m Kirishima by the way.” The man offered him his hand and smiled wide. Izuku took the offered hand, shook it firmly and hoped his scent wasn’t giving away his discomfort. At least Kirishima didn’t smell of anything suspicious, only a bit disappointed actually which made Izuku feel slightly bad.

“Midoriya-Yagi,” Izuku answered. “Tomorrow is a, uh–” he was going to come up with a lie, but the way Kirishima’s shoulders sagged he couldn’t do it. Damn him and his need to please people. “Fine. Tomorrow is fine. Same time.”

“Sweet! My shift ends the same tomorrow, I’ll be here!”

And sure enough the next day Kirishima came around while Izuku was stretching and getting ready. Izuku greeted him, but said nothing else as he got into his armor and grabbed a sword.

Sparring with Kirishima was actually quite fun. The other alpha was not nearly as flexible or nimble as he was, but the redhead could push back hard. Izuku couldn’t always keep up, which was thrilling on its own.

Kirishima wanted to initiate talks after they were done, but every time Izuku came up with an excuse why he had to go.

Today was no different, but Kirishima grabbed his arm before he could run away.

“Midobro, wait a minute.”

Izuku took a deep breath, weighing his options. Running away sounded way too good right now, but he knew that he couldn’t avoid this forever. He’d see Kirishima around even if he changed his training times to match the other alphas’ shifts. He could leave the castle, but he had a duty to fulfill. The only reason he was still here.

“What is it?” Izuku asked after probably a way too long while and he turned around to face Kirishima.

“Uh. We’ve not really had a chance to talk so could you stay at least for a few minutes? To catch up,” Kirishima’s eyebrows rose in question.

“Okay. I can spare a few minutes,” Izuku nodded, moving a little to the side to sit on the bench at the edge of the training grounds. He wished the scent of his sweat would bury most of his emotions since he didn’t know what to expect. He still felt so conflicted over how and what to feel about Kirishima, or even Kacchan.

“Don’t be so tense,” Kirishima laughed. “I just think you’re an amazing fighter. And since you’ll be living here and all I kinda wished we’d be friends. You handle swords so well and I’ve heard so many good things about you! Like you were such a beast during the war. I think you even got a higher kill count than Bakugou and he was really pissed about that for a while.”

Somehow Kirishima’s enthusiasm made him blush. He didn’t really want to boast about a kill count since he really didn’t like killing anyone, even if it was during a war. Every kill had made his stomach lurch uncomfortably.

“Sorry that I’ve been avoiding you. Or n-not exactly, uh, I mean sorry for being so busy, ah!” Izuku’s hands flailed in the air uncontrollably while he tried to explain himself. “We can definitely have chats after our spars like this.”

“Cool! I mean I totally understand. Bet it’s busy with the wedding and all.”

Izuku gulped. Shit. He had not been busy at all, nor had he planned anything. Only his allergies were asked about, but all the other planning was purely done by the Bakugous. He had just been happy to marry Kacchan, no matter what the wedding around him looked like.

The thought of that now only stung. The joy of it was totally gone.

“Hey hey I’m not mad! No need to get upset. Ah shit,” Kirishima bit his lip, clearly smelling Izuku’s sudden distressed scent. “I said I understand. You’ve not seen each other in years and there’s a lot of catching up to do, all the courting and shit takes time for sure my bad my bad!”

And didn’t that just make Izuku want to cry. He had planned on courting Kacchan for the whole month before the wedding. Have a talk on the first day, then get to know each other again after years.

But how was Kirishima not angry while talking about all of this? Wasn’t he interested in Kacchan? To Izuku it had been so clear how close they’d been every day. It had not just been on the first day that he saw them scent and touch each other. No. It kept happening day after day. No matter where he dared to walk from his room he’d see the two together. Sometimes he was sure neither of them had any duties and just spent their days together.

“You should know that there’s been none of that keeping me busy,” Izuku mumbled. For some reason his eyes stung and in all of his despair he was getting angry. How could Kirishima mock him like this? It felt so cruel to talk like that and twist the knife that was lodged deep within his heart.

“Ah,” Kirishima let out a forced laugh and scratched the back of his neck. “I mean yea. I know. But shouldn’t you be busy with all that? You’ve lost like, a week and a half already. Bakugou said that you–”

“Why the fuck do you care?!” Izuku suddenly yelled, surprising even himself.

“Well, you see, Bakugou is my–”

“Yea? Your secret lover? Your boyfriend? Or are you mated already? Are you here just to mock me? To laugh in my face?” Izuku couldn’t help it when the questions made tears fall freely from his eyes. He got up, swiping his eyes furiously into the palms of his hands. “Forget I asked. I don’t want to hear it.” His feet had started leading him away before even finishing the sentence.

“Hey! Midobro, get back,” Kirishima yelled, trying to run after him. Izuku heard the sounds of the other alpha’s feet thumping on the ground behind him. His body was sore from all the training, yet he pushed on. Not into the castle, but out from the gates and into the busy streets of the Bakugou kingdom.

From there Kirishima wouldn’t catch him and his horribly miserable scent.

It was already late in the evening when Izuku dragged himself back to the castle grounds. The guards on duty almost didn’t let him in, but luckily one of them recognized him after shoving a lantern in his face.

Izuku hoped he wouldn’t run into anyone this late. He was so damn hungry after running off just before dinner time. He didn’t even have any of his money or other belongings with him. He had run without another thought than getting away from the castle.

He had wanted to take the time to think. Yet his growling stomach had halted his pondering way too soon.

Slowly Izuku stepped to the dining room, a sweet smell assaulted his nostrils right away. Maybe there would be leftovers from supper he could take?

He walked over to the kitchen, not expecting anyone out at this hour. To his misfortune there was someone right by the stove.

“Uh, good evening,” Izuku greeted hesitantly. “I didn’t want to bother the staff and was going to get myself something to eat, if that’s okay.”

Izuku really hoped he could eat and wouldn’t be chased away. Maybe the chef was preparing tomorrow's dinner and he’d be in the way. He didn’t want to come off as a pompous prince either and demand anything.

But when the chef turned around Izuku panicked.

“K-Kacchan?! W-what are you–”

“Chill. Fuck. Don’t you fucking dare to leave. Shit,” Kacchan cursed as his eyes kept moving to the food he was making and to Izuku.

Izuku took a cautious step back, only to be met with furious red eyes on him. “I said to not fucking leave. Sit. For fuck’s sake.”

And for some reason Izuku listened. His feet dragged him towards the table and he sat down dutifully. His stomach growled audibly as he tried to control his scent. Being in the same room with Kacchan was hard during dinners, but this was on a whole nother level.

The kitchen was silent except the clanking of pans, sizzle of the food, and soft steps of Kacchan’s bare feet on the floor. Izuku stole a glance here and there, admiring the way his omega’s muscles flexed with even the smaller movements.

Izuku sighed. Technically yes, his omega and yet not really. The thought made him release a whine he fully didn’t intend to let out.

“What the fuck’s the matter with you?” Kacchan growled, slamming a plate in front of Izuku. It was truly something so Kacchan to be so forceful and yet delicate to not break the kitchen ware.

“Nothing. I’m fine. Really. Um, should I come get it or?”

“No sit the fuck down. I’ll set the table,” Kacchan grumbled as he started setting everything down. Pork and rice, some vegetables. For what Izuku could see. His mouth watered even more as he grabbed the chopsticks into his hand.

Izuku waited for Kacchan to take food first, but the omega instead barked at him to fucking dig in. So Izuku did so and filled his plate and started eating.

“Mmf this is so good Kacchan,” Izuku chirped after a few bites. He had forgotten to think about anything else for a moment, praise just pouring out of his mouth.

“‘s nothing fancy. A new dish I’ve been working on. Still misses something though,” Kacchan huffed dismissively. Yet Izuku could see the tint of pink at the tip of his ears, a familiar sight from when they were mere teenagers.

“Mm, I think it’s great. A little spicy. You could try eggs? I think it would complement the pork nicely,” Izuku said while he stuffed his face with the food. Kacchan only rolled his eyes at him before his eyebrows furrowed in thought.

Neither of them spoke for the rest of the dinner. Izuku was glad he could focus on eating. Even though he was totally nervous around Kacchan, he was comfortable. He had always been able to relax around Kacchan.

When Kacchan got up to move the dishes, Izuku hesitated a little. “Are you washing them? Can I help?”

“It’s fine I’ve got it.”

“But I want to. If that’s okay.” Izuku got up and grabbed his own plate and mug to bring them to be washed. They settled doing the task comfortably. Kacchan washed the dishes first while Izuku dipped them in clean water and set them off to dry.

Once everything was done Izuku turned to Kacchan. He had tried to get a whiff of the omegas scent the whole evening to know what he was thinking. Yet his own senses had been such a mess that he hadn’t been able to get a read.

“Thank you for the food Kacchan. It was delicious. You’re such a good cook. Even when you don’t really need to cook, you still do it.” Izuku hummed, continuing with barely a whisper, “Kacchan is amazing.”

“Well someone has to feed an idiot who skips lunch and supper. I fucking knew you wouldn’t take care of yourself. Same fucking dumb alpha as you used to be.” Kacchan glared at him.

Izuku’s eyes blew wide. Wait. Kacchan had made the food for him?

Izuku blushed, feeling so embarrassed yet so cared for. His alpha was wagging its tail happily and Izuku couldn’t help a pleased chirp that escaped his mouth.

“You didn’t have to. It’s so late too, you usually sleep at this hour. Oh gods. I made you stay up. And you did so even when I’ve been so horrible. Not even talking to you. And here you are. Making me delicious food in the middle of the night. Kacchan you really really shouldn’t have I–”

“I can’t let my alpha starve god dammit. Even if you are a fucking knot brain I can’t look the other way when you do shit like this,” Kacchan huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

Izuku’s face flushed even deeper. My alpha? He must’ve misheard Kacchan. There was no way. Kacchan liked Kirishima; he had an alpha. And Izuku was not that alpha. He had been years ago but times had changed. He was merely a tool to unite the kingdom’s now. Nothing less, nothing more. Certainly nothing more right?

“Oi, quit your mumbling,” Kacchan barked. “Shitty Hair told me about your conversation and how you ran today. You have way more explaining to do. And with what I got from your mumbles you truly are a fucking idiot.”

Kacchan moved closer to him, poking Izuku’s chest with his finger. “I’m fucking tired so tomorrow we’re talking. If you dare avoid me I’ll have you hunted down and chained into my bed.”

And didn’t that just make Izuku’s cock twitch involuntarily. Oh god. He was a mess.

“O-okay Kacchan. Whatever you want.”

“Tch. You better keep your word. Good night.” Kacchan turned around and walked away. Izuku didn’t know why, yet he panicked a little and ran after the omega.

“Wait! Can you. Um,” Izuku bit his lip before offering his arm.

Kacchan luckily caught up to what he was after, taking the hand and brushing their glands together roughly. The gesture sent a thrill along Izuku’s spine. He’d need to shower away all the sweat from working out and running, but he really needed this.

“Thank you,” Izuku said as Kacchan let go of his wrist. “Good night,” he continued softly, letting Kacchan leave before him.

He didn’t know what tomorrow's talk entailed, yet he felt oddly happy. Was he a fool for letting a tiny spark of hope to grow in his chest? Maybe. But it wouldn’t be the first time he’d be a fool for Kacchan.

That morning Izuku woke up with butterflies in his stomach and a snake straddling his heart.

“You got this Izuku. You’re an alpha. All you have to do is talk with Kacchan. You talk all the time. It should be easy.” Izuku had a pep talk to himself in front of the mirror. Talking came easy to him, but talking with Kacchan was an entirely different story. They used to do it all the time, being around the omega was a comfort. He truly hoped they’d at least get back to that.

Izuku went over all the possible scenarios the talk could lead into. In his heart he knew that if he had to marry Kacchan and let him be with someone else in secrecy it would hurt, but he’d do it. Anything for the omega’s happiness.

He took a deep breath before setting off and starting the day. The plan was to entirely go with Kacchan’s pace. Talk when he wanted. Izuku could do that. He didn’t have anything he actually needed to do in the castle for any given time. Would be a shame to miss dinner, but he’d make due. Maybe Kacchan would make him something again or–

Izuku shook his head and willed his mind to silence as he got closer to the dining hall. No need to get ahead of himself.

Breakfast was quiet. Yet the air was somewhat charged. Kacchan kept eyeing him and Izuku couldn’t keep himself from not stealing a glance here or there.

Would it be weird to ask for a scenting after?

In the end he didn’t have the chance since Kacchan stormed off to some meeting. Izuku sadly noticed him scenting with Kirishima in the halls on the way.

Izuku continued with his day. Instead of sparring he decided to run laps around the castle grounds for longer than for one warm up round.

His mind was pleasantly numb once he got into the rhythm. It took him probably way too long to realize that someone was jogging beside him.

“Waaaaaahh–acchan?!” Izuku yelped and nearly tripped over his own feet.

Kacchan snorted. “Keep running, moron.”

His steps had faltered and Kacchan was getting ahead. He nodded, catching up to Kacchan easily.

They kept passing each other here and there. Sometimes only for seconds, sometimes minutes. Izuku loved it. Especially when the sweat brought up the omega’s scent way heavier than normal and it was making him drunk.

When Kacchan overtook him he always chased the scent, his alpha was thrilled, fangs aching to catch and bite, bite, BITE.

Yet every time he ran to Kacchan's side he then passed him, not listening to his alpha.

Izuku could sometimes catch Kacchan licking his fangs whenever they passed each other. The pure scent of excitement was intoxicating.

“Gonna give up nerd?” Kacchan mocked while passing him again.

Izuku shook his head, though faintly, as he was really getting tired. He was not going to lose. “No way. I’m going to beat you.”

Kacchan grinned, “ya ain’t ever gonna beat me. Thought you learned that years ago.”

Izuku couldn’t believe how Kacchan could get so many words out of his mouth while running. They’d been up to this for so long already. Izuku lost count of the laps they’d done around the castle grounds.

“But if I–” Izuku took a breath, “lose I’m not worthy to–” another breath so he wouldn’t pass out. “Court you.”

He didn’t get an answer right away, somehow the air felt oddly silent even if it was no different from their earlier running.

What finally broke the silence was a low growl from Kacchan who suddenly turned around, grabbing Izuku’s shoulders, pushing him down.

“Ouch,” Izuku huffed, when his back hit the ground, Kacchan heavy atop of him. Red eyes glared through him, teeth bared and the growling deep within filled the air.

“You are so fucking dumb.”

Izuku furrowed his brows, pouting while his chest heaved. He was still trying to catch his breath from all the exercise. “That’s not fair Kacchan.”

“What’s not fair is having such an oblivious alpha,” Kacchan snarled, lowering his upper body. He hid his face into the alphas neck, tilting his head slightly and letting their glands brush against each other.

Izuku shivered from the contact, his mind getting fuzzy and content. Even more so when he felt Kacchan’s tongue lapping over his gland and all the way up to his ear. “You already courted me when we were sixteen. You’ve– shit,” Kacchan bit Izuku’s cheek harshly, before getting up more so he could look him in the eye. “You’ve always been worthy.”

Izuku’s cheeks had never gone so red this quickly. Not even when they courted as teenagers. Something about the words, the closeness, the scent. Oh. Kacchan smelled divine. And he had been… Stupid.

“Oi. Why the fuck are you crying huh? You still the same old crybaby too? Or just hate the idea of marrying me suddenly?” Kacchan growled.

He couldn’t help the tears. The relief he felt was immense. For almost two weeks he had thought that Kacchan, his precious omega, had fallen in love with someone else.

“I– I’m sorry I just–” Izuku sniffled, hiding his face into his palms. “Can’t believe this. Kacchan still–”

“I can’t even imagine what gave you the idea that something had changed. Dumb nerd,” Kacchan huffed, moving so he was now sitting up, straddling Izuku’s waist. He pulled Izuku with him, grabbing the alphas wrists so he couldn’t hide his face.

“I know we haven’t seen each other at all for years. But for fucks sake would it hurt to at least talk to me. I was sure you–” Kacchan bit back his words.

Izuku didn’t need to hear the rest. His hands were still being held by the omega, so he moved his head closer, letting his forehead press lightly against Kacchan’s own. “I’m sorry I assumed things. I should’ve known that if Kacchan still agreed to this then he wouldn’t absolutely hate me, but… To want to mate…” Izuku couldn’t help smiling widely at the thought alone. His alpha provided a happy chirp.

“I saw you and Kirishima-kun everyday and was so sure you–”

Kacchan’s eyebrows furrowed. “Shitty Hair? Well, you’re gonna see the bastard daily because he’s a fucking leech.”

Izuku shook his head. “No I mean. You spend so much time with him, and you scent. Wrists and–” Izuku couldn’t even say neck. It made him a bit agitated amongst all his previous happiness. His alpha was getting anxious thinking back to it.

“My omega is needy and during the war I needed an alpha scent. Shitty Hairs is… tolerable. Why?” Kacchan’s eyes narrowed as he studied Izuku’s face. The souring scent hitting his nose. “You’re jealous? Of that rocks for brains alpha?”

“Well,” Izuku squirmed, “the day I arrived I saw you guys in the hallway. I mean scenting is totally normal, but your neck…” Izuku’s voice got a little strained and he couldn’t continue.

“This is exactly why you should’ve talked to me. We don’t neck scent. Fucking hell. You can’t even differentiate scenting from fucking whispering?” Kacchan scowled.

Izuku’s mouth opened slightly. Oh no. He had misunderstood so badly from the start. How could that be? He was so embarrassed.

Izuku groaned, turning his head to the side to hide at least a part of his face. “Can you forgive me? Forget that I ignored you and start over? Please?”

Kacchan scoffed, rolling his eyes affectionately. “You better handle my mom’s stupid wedding questions for the rest of the month for letting her run me absolutely insane! Why couldn’t she just bother you at the dinner table or fucking anywhere. Stupid old hag I swear to–”

“Kacchan, be nice she’s your mom,” Izuku hushed, “I’ll do whatever makes you happy.”

“Damn pushover.”

“You know I’m not,” Izuku retaliated, yet his smile didn’t falter. “I just want to please my omega.”

Kacchan’s purr got really loud after the words. Which in turn got Izuku himself purring. His omega. He could say that again. Like he’d wanted to. His eyes watered involuntarily from the pure happiness that was surely clear from his wide smile and scent.

“Tch, sappy nerd,” Kacchan murmured, biting Izuku’s cheek affectionately.

Izuku nodded, yet his tears didn’t really stop. He was so happy to sit there close to Kacchan and for the first time since the awful first dinner at the castle he felt truly happy and hopeful about the future.

Izuku was visibly happier after his “workout”. Once he had showered Izuku instantly started going through his luggage. He had a few bags all full of things he had brought for Kacchan. Things for the King and Queen had been given out, but otherwise Izuku had tried his best to forget the… Courting stuff.

Now that things were back on track he laid out everything into his bed. Lots of clothes and fabrics, but also other more non traditional courting items. Ones that Izuku had put much thought into. Well, to be fair he had put in effort to all of the items.

He touched some of the soft blankets and sighed. Would Kacchan accept them? He did say there was no need for courting and yet… Izuku wanted to. Kacchan deserved the world.

Izuku imagined Kacchan laid out in his nest, all surrounded by soft pillows and blankets, scented by his closed ones, and him. He blushed, grabbing a green, large and very cozy blanket from the bed and started to rub it into his neck. Best to get his sappy scent, as Kacchan would call it, into it.

It was a simple enough gift to give. He wished Kacchan would accept it.

Izuku laid the fabric down, getting ready for dinner and other activities for the day.

When the sun was starting to set, Izuku roamed around the halls towards Kacchan’s chambers. His heart beat up rapidly, his scent a little nervous, yet happy. His alpha was encouraging him, saying the gift was perfect. You never knew with Kacchan. And when he was younger, his gifts had not been so thoughtful, more like things his mother and stepfather had pushed on him. This was fully him.

“Oh hey Midobro!”

Izuku startled, almost dropping everything he was holding. When Kirishima leaned in to catch him and nearly touched the blanket Izuku growled.

“Shit, my bad,” Kirishima laughed, raising his hands up beside his head.

“It’s okay, I didn’t really mean to– You know, growl at you,” Izuku apologized quickly.

“It’s fine man! I should know better than to touch other alpha’s things,” Kirishima grinned happily. “Haven’t really seen you at this part of the castle before, what’cha up to?”

“Well, I was–” Izuku hesitated a little, eyeing the bundled cloth in his arms, then behind Kirishima to the corridor and back.

“Oooooh, no need to explain. I get’cha. Bakugou told me you guys had a talk.” Kirishima’s eyebrow wiggled and way too cheery grin made Izuku blush. What had Kacchan told? Everything?

“Y-yea.”

“That’s good. I won’t hold you then. Have a good evening,” Kirishima bowed at him, firm and proper, before continuing his rounds to where Izuku had come from.

Izuku took a deep breath, before walking the rest of the way to Kacchan’s door. The last pit stop where he hesitated. Kacchan wouldn’t really call everything off over a courting gift, right? But what if the omega didn’t like the kind of fabrics they made at his home Kingdom? What if Kacchan wanted silk instead, or wool, or– Shit. Izuku bit his lower lip anxiously.

“Stop stinking up the hallway.” Izuku heard Kacchan’s voice before the door opened in front of him. The sudden onslaught of Kacchan’s scent in his nostrils made him almost moan.

Kacchan’s brow rose as he leaned to the door frame, hands crossed over his chest and he eyed Izuku suspiciously. “You just gonna stand there or what? Creep.”

That got Izuku back into the world and he blinked a few times. “No, um. I came to give you this.” Izuku extended his hands towards Kacchan, offering the scented, big, soft, folded blanket that matched his hair to the omega.

Kacchan still eyed him warily, before accepting the gift. Izuku didn’t breathe as he waited for Kacchan’s judgement.

The omega’s thumbs smoothed over the fabric and slowly lifted it up closer to his face. Kacchan took a deep breath, before lowering the fabric back down. There was a scowl on Kacchan’s face, which would’ve made Izuku panic if he didn’t hear the loud purrs that emanated from deep within the omega’s chest.

“What the hell is this Izuku?”

“Oh,” Izuku felt a little dizzy, remembering to breathe again. “It’s a courting gift. Made of this fabric from the Yagi kingdom. I thought you’d like that. And I dyed it myself. So it would be perfect. You know.”

“Didn’t I just tell you that you didn’t need to do this crap?” Kacchan’s voice was soft, despite the maybe a bit harsh words. And he clearly saw the way the omega unconsciously kept touching the fabric and kept it close to his chest.

“Yea. But I got all this stuff. And I really want to give them to Kacchan. But if you say no I won’t. At least accept this one, please?” Izuku pleaded. He really wanted Kacchan to have at least one courting gift from him. He wanted to know that there was something that smelled of Izuku somewhere in Kacchan’s room.

Kacchan sighed, rolling his eyes. “Idiot. Do whatever you want.”

The words made Izuku chirp happily and his mouth widened into a huge grin. “Okay Kacchan. Promise you won’t regret it.”

“Tch.” Kacchan huffed, not looking at Izuku. Instead the omega offered his wrist to the alpha and Izuku could’ve died over the happiness he felt at that moment.

He brushed their glands together, probably overdoing it a little before he leaned forward, pressing his lips to Kacchan’s cheek.

“Good night Kacchan.” Before the omega could retort, Izuku turned away with a little skip in his step. He had so many gifts to give, so much pampering to catch up to. He was so excited. Marriage wouldn’t be the end. More like a start where he could even more openly spoil his gorgeous omega.

From that day onwards Izuku kept giving Kacchan gifts everyday. Sometimes smaller things like earrings, sometimes bigger ones like the big pillow he’d dragged all this way from his home. He gave Kacchan spices, then whenever the spices came up in conversation Izuku gifted the omega with seeds to grow said spices.

He was thoughtful, careful not to gift ones Kacchan wouldn’t like so much.

After eleven gifts his mother arrived in the Bakugou Kingdom. A little later than anticipated, but the engagement party was held nevertheless.

“Here you are,” Kacchan huffed, sneaking through the slightly open glass doors and into the balcony where Izuku was leaning over the stone railing. “Leaving me there to deal with everyone by myself. Shithead.”

“Ah, Kacchan,” Izuku smiled, turning his head. “You know I didn’t really grow up around parties, music and wine. It’s a bit much.”

Kacchan hummed, settling beside him. “I get it nerd. You could’ve told me. Could’ve slipped away earlier.” Kacchan kept looking into the distance and Izuku's breath hitched. His omega was so beautiful.

Striking red eyes, light spiky hair, toned skin from all the sun Bakugou Kingdom got over the year… Izuku sighed, laying his head down on top of his arms.

“The weddings in nine days,” Kacchan said, slowly moving his gaze to Izuku after a long silence.

“Mm,” Izuku hummed, “I’m excited. Can’t believe I’m finally going to be a Bakugou.”

Kacchan raised his brow while a snort left his lips. “Ya ain’t gonna be a Bakugou. And no, before you ask I ain’t gonna be a Yagi either.”

Izuku furrowed his brows in confusion. Was this a subtle way to turn him down after all this time?

“I think if we unite the Kingdoms we need an entirely new name ya know,” Kacchan turned to better look at Izuku. The soft smile spreading to his soon to be mate’s face was dazzling, making Izuku’s heart jump and stomach flutter. “What better one to take than Midoriya, don’tcha think?”

“W-what!?” Izuku’s mouth hung open from pure shock as his cheeks heated up. He must’ve heard wrong. What did Kacchan mean?

“C’mon. I don’t wanna stay here with my fucking parents, nor do I wanna move to your parents either. No offence.”

Izuku just shook his head, letting Kacchan continue as he was still totally speechless.

“Was thinkin’ we build our own place somewhere we want. As long as it’s within our new united kingdom it should be fine right?” Kacchan’s brows shot up. It was clear from his scent that even when Kacchan spoke confidently he was totally nervous.

“You’ve… You’ve really thought about this,” Izuku mumbled.

“Yea. Got a problem with that?”

“No! I am actually really really happy that Kacchan has thought about his future– our future like that.” Izuku blushed hard, soaking in everything Kacchan had said to him. All this didn’t feel real. How could the omega make their future together sound even more alluring?“I’d be happy to get our own place with Kacchan. Build our own town, or city. However Kacchan wants. We’ve got the time. And as long as I’m with Kacchan I’m…” Izuku bit his lip, his adoring gaze locked into his omega. “Happy.”

“Good.” Kacchan grumbled, turning to look away and lean over the railing. Izuku watched the blond for a minute, before doing the same. He did his best to try and settle his rapidly beating heart and his brain that was all over the place. Kacchan just kept on surprising him and he was sure that if they’d not been at a party Izuku would’ve yelled his love loud and proud right there and then.

“You’ve been talking with the hag a lot lately. She botherin’ you?” Kacchan continued after a long silence, when both of their scents had settled and the mood was more stable.

“Not really no… Like you said back then… I needed to step up, and well, she doesn’t really ask for my opinions or anything. She just tells me how things are going to be and she has told me everything there’s going to be from flowers to guests,” Izuku sighed, yet he was smiling.

“So,” Kacchan cleared his throat, “she tell you about our customs then?”

Izuku blinked a few times, looking at Kacchan. When he noticed the light tint of pink on his ears Izuku blushed an even deeper red. Oh .

“Y-yea she did. I mean,” Izuku laughed nervously. “It was a bit awkward.”

Listening to his mother-in-law talk about the wedding after party which was going to be very different to him and Kacchan than it was going to be for everyone else had truly been something.

“We don’t have to do it if it’s too–” Kacchan started, yet Izuku cut him off.

“No! I– I mean. I respect all of your Kingdom’s traditions,” Izuku’s hands flailed. “I’m up for anything Kacchan wants. I would’ve liked our first time a bit different, but—” Izuku hummed, turning fully to face Kacchan. “I don’t really want to wait any longer to share my rut with you.”

Oh how Izuku wished at that moment that he could read Kacchan’s mind. The omega’s eyes briefly dilated, his scent spiked heavy with smoke and Izuku was salivating. He couldn’t help but step closer, right into the omega’s personal space.

“But what I said is also true. Anything Kacchan wants,” Izuku whispered the last words. His hands sneaked to the omega’s hips, pulling them flush against his.

“I don’t really want to wait either.”

And didn’t that just make Izuku’s heart skip a beat. Kacchan wanted to have his next heat with Izuku. While he was in a rut. His face felt like it was in flames, his hold on Kacchan’s hips tightened and he hid his face into the omegas neck.

Which didn’t help at all. The way too enticing scent got onto his skin and he couldn’t help but inhale deeply. Chili.

“Nn, how do you smell like red peppers? Is your pre-heat now–”

“Tch, no,” Kacchan grumbled, grabbing Izuku’s shoulders in an attempt to push the alpha away. “It’s not just my heat scent. Idiot.

“Then what is–” Oh. By the redness that now actually for once was on Kacchan’s cheeks Izuku understood. It made his alpha howl, and without realizing he licked his fangs. They started to ache just from the thought of an aroused omega being in front of him. Izuku could taste the venom on his tongue.

Shit,” Kacchan huffed, really pushing Izuku further now, as far as his hands could get the alpha. “Chill down. We can wait a week. Can’t fucking believe your scent goes sweet like this.”

Izuku saw Kacchan sweating and red, trying to really keep his mind calm. Izuku wanted so badly to give in to his alpha, but he also respected Kacchan too much to do that. The omega was right. They could wait.

“Mm, is it bad? My scent,” Izuku asked, taking a small step away so Kacchan wouldn’t need to hold him. At the same time he sniffed around his wrist. He was so used to his own scent, he had no idea if it was good or bad.

“Of course not,” Kacchan snarled, taking a step so all the distance was gone again. Izuku gulped. “Just didn’t think it would be sweet ‘s all.” As he said that the omega grabbed Izuku’s wrist and instead of their usual scenting Kacchan brought it up to his neck.

Izuku couldn’t believe this. They’d only scented once with their neck glands so far, when they actually first talked about all this. But now Kacchan was doing it again, with his wrist. And Izuku let him.

“I can’t wait to marry you,” Izuku whispered, too overwhelmed and overrun by emotion. He didn’t cry, but his heart was so full. Filled with Kacchan and thoughts about their future together.

“Sappy little shit,” Kacchan huffed, with no snark in his voice as he leaned forward, their foreheads pushing together.

It was silent for a while, before Kacchan’s lips pressed lightly against Izuku’s. “I can’t wait either nerd.”

The wedding day was just as Izuku expected. All planned perfectly by Mitsuki and all he had to do was follow whenever someone came to adjust his clothes, or redo the one braid in his hair that dangled in front of his left ear.

His clothes were all clearly expensive, a mix of green and red fabric, embroidered with gold accents. Izuku felt way overdressed for something he was going to enjoy less than two hours for.

Some of Izuku’s friends had arrived too. The two alpha friends he’d made while he was fighting the war. He had promised the two, Shinsou and Uraraka, a place in the new kingdom whenever he and Kacchan would settle into a new place.

Both hesitated and Izuku knew why. Courting. And their lives were in the Yagi kingdom. Izuku wasn’t going to push it. He left the offer hanging in the air, making sure his friends knew it would always be there if they ever wanted it.

The ceremony hall was absolutely beautiful. The Bakugous had not skimped on any expenses. Izuku looked at all the food with longing, knowing he wouldn't actually get to eat any of it.

“Don’t pout,” Uraraka laughed beside him. “I helped the queen earlier and I promise you there’s so much food and drinks in Bakugou’s room you’re going to be well fed all week. Trust me.”

“Okay,” Izuku sighed, yet he couldn’t help eyeing the cakes, meats and pies one more time.

“Chin up. You’re going to be married in a moment. And then you’re going to spend some quality time with your husband,” Uraraka smirked, wiggling her brows for good measure.

Izuku blushed. What Uraraka said was all true. He wouldn’t even think about the food when he’d be in a rut. The ceremonial tea would make sure they only had maybe an hour after saying the vows till their heat and rut would hit respectively. They’d been advised to join in for the first dance and leave then, but he hadn’t made any strict plans with Kacchan. They wanted to go at their own pace, see how they felt at any given moment.

Izuku craved all the food, but he knew that a small bite would be enough. He didn’t want to be all full and in a rut. That sounded awful.

“I just kinda imagined our wedding to be a whole night of fun. But I think I did get enough of partying from the engagement one. Even if I didn’t get you and Shinsou here then,” Izuku sighed. Really if he’d had his friends around a few weeks ago he would’ve been so happy to skip the whole wedding beside the ceremony and food today.

But thinking about what was on the horizon for him after the ceremony, he didn’t really want to party. Even the idea of starting their lives together with shared heat and rut was so good. Izuku hadn’t stopped thinking about it since the moment Mitsuki had brought it up. He’d get to spend days in Kacchan’s nest.

“Izuku,” Uraraka laughed, nudging him with her elbow. “I can smell your thoughts. Keep it in your pants for a few more hours.”

Uraraka’s wide grin made Izuku blush yet again. Crap.

“It’s showtime anyway. You ready?”

Izuku gulped, taking a last look of himself in the mirror. He was ready. He’d walk down the aisle with his mom, straight up to Kacchan’s side. Where he belonged. “Mm, I’m ready.” Izuku offered his arm to Uraraka and with determined steps they exited the room and towards the ceremony hall.

“Izuku!”

“Mom,” Izuku smiled, trying his hardest not to cry. He didn’t even know why he was so emotional, or his mom. They’d seen each other this morning. And every day since his mother arrived at the Bakugou Castle.

“You look so handsome. My sweet boy,” Inko gently touched Izuku’s cheek. The alpha had no time to react before the soft touch turned into a crushing hug. Yet Izuku laughed into it and hugged his mother back.

“Thanks, mom.”

They stayed in the hug for a while, until they had to go in. Izuku was nervous. The ceremony was a little different from what he was used to seeing. It was less primal than the older ways, which he appreciated. He didn’t miss the fear of thinking he’d have to have his first time in front of all the guests.

When Izuku settled close to the front his nose picked up Kacchan’s scent right away. It was faint, yet it was there. He moved forward to the thousands of flowers at front, smelling them till he found the right one.

A beautiful lilac, somehow filled with Kacchan’s perfect scent. Izuku picked it out, purring as his omega’s scent filled his nostrils. The flower's aroma fulfilled the omega’s own scent perfectly.

When Izuku turned around he spotted Kacchan looking way too pleased, already halfway up to the front.

“Knew you’d find it fast. Stalker.”

Izuku chirped. “I just really like Kacchan’s scent.”

From there on the ceremony consisted of a lot of talks from the royal priest and then from the king and queen themselves. Izuku usually loved to listen, take in all the culture, but not this time. His eyes were too focused on Kacchan standing by his side. The omega looked breathtaking.

All rough edges, hair glimmering, body hidden under the softest looking silk and ceremonial shawl, just like the one Izuku was wearing. Kacchan’s stare was upfront, but every once in a while their eyes met. And every single time Izuku felt like his knees were going to give out.

There were no opportunities for them to speak, though Izuku had hoped there would’ve been. He was used to shared confessions in weddings. Maybe they could add those into tradition here later on.

When all the talking was done it was time for the last thing. Izuku and Kacchan would share a special concoction to start their rut and heat respectively. The liquid looked exactly like tea, served in expensive hand made cups, embroidered with such care Izuku’s hand shook as he picked one up. He was scared to break it.

Kacchan gently touched his hand. The small gesture had Izuku relax instantly. His gaze rose from the cup to Kacchan as he placed his hands under the cup. Kacchan did the same to his own.

They bowed, raised their cups up to their lips and drank at the same time.

The tea burned a little, Izuku wanted to cough, but he managed to drink it all.

He had never taken such tea. His rut wouldn’t start quite yet as the tea needed to take effect, but he still felt flustered. All those gazes on them. All of them knew what was going to happen in a few hours between the two of them.

With that the ceremony was over.

Izuku walked through the crowd, his omega by his side, eagerly waiting for them to be alone.

The doors closed behind them, and Kacchan grabbed his wrist and yanked him to the side, just behind the corner.

“Kacch–” Izuku didn’t have time to ask as Kacchan had already pinned him against the wall and kissed him.

The kiss was fast, only their lips pressed in together, yet it made his heart beat fast. Kacchan moved to aggressively scenting him after, his soft, spiky hair making Izuku giggle.

“Mm, all better?” Izuku asked, his eyes full of love as Kacchan took a step back.

“For now,” Kacchan scoffed. “Let’s go to the stupid party.” The omega had already grabbed his wrist again and was pulling him with him. Izuku couldn’t help smiling widely. It didn’t matter where Kacchan took him, he would follow.

He was getting so hot in his garments. Izuku stretched the neckline, trying to get at least some air in there. It didn’t really help. He eyed Kacchan by his side and the omega seemed to be more flustered too.

Their eyes met and Izuku bit his lip, not sure if he should be the one to hurry them away. They had only had one dance; Izuku had then eaten one salty and one sweet pastry, Kacchan opting to not take anything.

Yet neither of them spoke. They kept looking at each other, ignoring all the attempts from any guests that tried to congratulate them.

Izuku put his hand on the small of Kacchan’s back. The hand slowly snaked to the omegas side, pulling them closer. With the mix of scents in the area it was easier to get a full whiff of Kacchan’s scent. And it was mouthwatering.

Kacchan…

“Fuck,” Kacchan cursed and grabbed Izuku’s wrist. “Let’s go.” Izuku didn’t hesitate for a second as he nodded, letting Kacchan lead him away from their own wedding. He didn’t spare a single glance or thought to the people that looked at them while they sped off.The way Kacchan was dragging him through the hallways of the castle was a thrill in its own. Their scents mixed in the empty halls. It wasn’t a chase, yet Izuku’s teeth ached.

They stopped at the door, Kacchan working the lock open before Izuku got pulled in. The whole world seemed to stop for a moment as Izuku took everything in. For the first time since he’d started having rut symptoms he looked at something other than Kacchan.

The room was huge, yet Izuku could single out every object in the room that was from him. The candles, a few flowers, picture frames and– oh. Kacchan’s bed was filled with things. It was clearly a nest. Izuku could see all the soft material he had given the omega. Blankets, comforters, the huge pillow, the dragon plushie and–

Izuku gasped.

“Kacchan,” Izuku sniffled, “you kept them all?” There in Kacchan’s bed were all the old things he’d given years ago when he first courted the omega. Surely they didn’t have any of his scent anymore, yet there they were. Part of a whole.

“Tch. Don’t get sentimental now nerd. Of course I kept my alpha’s gifts,” Kacchan huffed, pushing close to the alpha so their chests were against each other.

Izuku smiled and quickly wiped his eyes. “I love you Kacchan.”

“Mm, love you too nerd.” Kacchan moved closer to Izuku, he scented the alphas neck and shoulders aggressively.

Izuku suspected Kacchan didn’t have much patience left for talking. Neither did he. He could marvel at the omega’s nest later.

His hands moved to the omega’s waist as Kacchan’s teeth bit into his skin. Izuku groaned, his hands traveling instantly higher. Both of them had way too much clothes on. His hands found Kacchan’s shawl which he somehow got off gently while Kacchan was focused on his neck.

Once Izuku found the buttons he started to open them all one by one. It was frustrating and there wasn’t enough space within them. He groaned, hands raising up to Kacchan’s chest as he pushed the omega.

“Bed,” he growled. The hazy look in Kacchan’s eyes was everything to him, he almost cursed from the mere sight of his omega’s beautiful flushed face and chest. “Strip.”

Even if Kacchan didn’t fully move to the bed, Izuku was satisfied when the omega took a step back and started to take off his clothes. The alpha did the same, hurriedly ridding himself of his own too. Once his fingers were on the hem of his underwear he hesitated. He was so nervous. Would Kacchan like what he saw? Izuku hadn’t really never been like this with anyone so what if he–

But when Kacchan proudly took off everything from himself and laid down into his nest… Izuku had to follow. The omega’s eyes were on him and Izuku saw no hesitation in his gaze.

His underwear practically flew off as he wanted to join the omega. Once fully naked he stepped close to the bed, “Kacchan… Can I?”

“What the hell do you think?” Kacchan huffed, rolling his eyes. “Hurry up.”

The bed dipped from the weight as he set his knees down, crawling fully in, half over Kacchan. The omega was gorgeous. His alpha tried its best to gain control, trying to take over his thoughts. Izuku didn’t let it. He wanted to enjoy Kacchan with at least some part of his mind intact.

“You don’t have to fight it,” Kacchan said, as his hand came up to caress Izuku’s cheek. The omega was breathing heavily, probably also fighting his own instincts so he wouldn’t just instantly present and bare his neck.

“I know Kacchan,” Izuku smiled. He settled his upper body over Kacchan, hands keeping him up on either side of the man’s face. “Just till I’m comfortable letting go,” Izuku hummed as he lowered himself enough to kiss Kacchan’s jaw.

“Fine,” Kacchan huffed, his hips bucking up. “But hurry.”

Oh how Izuku wanted to. His teeth ached to bite even if he wasn’t even in the omega yet. The heavy scent of slick and their aroused scents made his mind hazy. “Don’t worry Kacchan. I will. Wanna make my omega feel good. Gonna have the best heat you’ve ever had.”

Kacchan groaned when Izuku bit the side of his neck a few times. The alpha’s hands kept exploring the tanned, already sweaty skin, committing everything to memory. The way Kacchan shivered when his nipples were touched, the way his muscles spasmed from even a slight touch of Izuku’s knee on his inner thigh…

“I-Izuku.” Kacchan breathed heavily, hips raising here and there.

“I know,” the alpha muttered, landing a light kiss into the omegas lips before he moved down.

He wanted to do this when he was still somewhat in his right mind. Izuku settled on his stomach, laying between Kacchan’s legs.

“Kacchan’s so beautiful. In here too,” Izuku praised as his hand moved along Kacchan’s length. The sweet gasp of the omega spurred Izuku forward. His fingers moved around the slick wet rim and raised back to the omega’s proudly standing cock.

The movements of his hand were low and steady, yet this wasn’t all he wanted. The heavy scent of slick called for him and he didn’t fight it. His tongue took a long, experimental lick, gathering up as much slick as he could.

Izuku moaned. Kacchan even tasted heavenly. One lick wasn’t nearly enough so he continued with his tongue, licking, pushing closer so he’d get into Kacchan’s tight heat. The omega’s scent was so heavy in the air and on his tongue that he got completely lost in what he was doing.

His hips automatically rutted on the soft blanket under him. He imagined it not being just his tongue inside that tight, wet, perfect heat.

He didn’t even realize Kacchan was coming before the omega grabbed his hair harshly and crushed his head between his thighs.

To be fair Izuku would’ve let those thighs crack his skull anyday. This must’ve been what heaven felt like.

When the omega’s grip loosened Izuku licked his lips and removed his hands from Kacchan’s spent cock.

Kacchan looked down at him and if Izuku couldn’t smell how the omega was feeling he’d almost think the man was disappointed at him.

“Fuck. You’re clearly still in there. Did you hear anything I said?” Kacchan grumbled.

Izuku laughed sheepishly and shook his head. “Sorry Kacchan. You tasted so good I kinda zoned out.”

“Figures. Knot head.”

“Hey! You wanted me to not fight it,” Izuku pouted.

Kacchan smirked. “Yea. And I meant it. Fuck. It was good, okay.”

“Really?” Izuku smiled excitedly, his heavy weight all on Kacchan’s chest. The omega groaned yet petted his alpha’s head.

“Yes yes. Good alpha.” Kacchan praised and Izuku’s alpha preened. “You must be hardly there anyway, shitty Deku. Look at you rutting into me with no shame.”

“Uh-huh,” Izuku nodded enthusiastically, until Kacchan’s smirk and the words finally sank in. He truly was so drunk on the taste and scent of Kacchan with the added praise that he didn’t realize at all what he was doing.

Izuku blushed, his hips stopping. “I uh, Kacchan just felt so g–”

“Shh,” Kacchan shut Izuku up by wrapping his arms around the alphas neck and pulling him down so their noses touched. “It’s fine. You know I can handle myself. And I want you to give in.”

Kacchan pulled him down more, tilted his neck up and whispered right into Izuku’s lips. “Alpha.

Izuku’s whole body shivered, his pupils dilated and his mouth hung slightly open. His omega was amazing. He had always dreamed of Kacchan like this. And the fact that his omega now rutted up against his erection made him truly lose it.

He dove down to Kacchan’s lips, not caring to fight his mind anymore. His hips moved against Kacchan, seeking friction.

Kacchan’s mouth was so hot and tasted so good. The taste of slick mixed in made Izuku moan into the kiss. His head tilted to the side, giving his tongue better access to explore. All their previous kisses had been just lips on lips, lips on cheeks, sweet and barely there. This was entirely different.

Teeth clacked here and there, frustration built in Izuku’s gut as his alpha needed more. Kacchan’s sharp teeth on his lip made him stop, his hazy gaze locking into those sharp red eyes.

“Kacchan,” Izuku whined, hips rutting again. He couldn’t stand still at all. His eyes were locked to Kacchan’s own, while his body moved a little lower, his cock getting wet with slick. The glide was better like this, making Izuku moan once again.

Izuku kept rutting, the tip of his cock catching on Kacchan’s rim a few times, not sliding in. It made the alpha frustrated, movements becoming harsher. Until the omega growled and Izuku stopped.

“Stupid mutt. Here.” Kacchan got up onto one arm, his free hand grabbed Izuku’s cock and guided it down. “Good alpha. Go on.”

Izuku needed no more guidance as he moved his hips forward, his cock gliding easily into the warm heat. Both breathed loudly, Kacchan falling back down onto the soft nest.

The alpha was already so gone. All in his mind was mate, beautiful perfect omega, knot, breed.

And Izuku chased those words with his whole body as his hips slammed forward mercilessly. His knot started to swell and the way Kacchan bared his neck made his fangs produce so much venom it dripped down his chin.

Kacchan was gripping the sheets hard the whole time, until he felt the knot try to bully its way into him. The omega mewled, hands wrapped to the alphas back, claws digging deep. He lifted his hips up, giving the best angle he could imagine for his alpha to sink into him fully.

And that did it. Izuku whined a few times, until his knot sank in, catching onto the omega’s hole. The tightness on his knot came as a shock and he came instantly. His head crashed down into the omega’s neck, fangs digging deep into the sensitive gland.

Kacchan whimpered under him, his hole pulsing as he came from the bite and knot. He opened his eyes a little, instincts controlling his actions as he clamped onto Izuku’s gland with his omegan teeth.

Everything was silent, except heavy breathing and loud purrs that filled the room. Izuku let his teeth go first, satisfied with his bite he licked it a few times, making sure to get it healing properly. Mate.

Kacchan let go at some point, doing the same thing as Izuku did. The buzz on his mind felt good. The connection with Kacchan was as good as he had hoped. Kacchan was his now. And he was Kacchan’s. They were… Mates.

“Are you for real?” Kacchan hissed.

“Mm, huh?” Izuku asked, lifting his face from Kacchan’s neck slightly so he could look at the omega.

Shit.” Kacchan’s head rolled back and he moaned. “Is this how you are in a rut? Just going at it again not even letting your knot settle?”

Izuku’s mind blanked, his eyes locked at Kacchan’s flustered face. He looked down, realizing his hips were yet again rutting against Kacchan. Yet this time he was still inside the omega, not able to move fully out because of the knot locking them in place.

“A-ah, Kacchan, I’m sorry I can’t– Stop.” He really tried, yet his hips didn’t stop. Tears gathered into his eyes, as all the pleasure and shame mixed in his mind.

“Oi,” Kacchan barked, grabbing Izuku’s face between his hands. “It’s fine, idiot. You don’t need to stop. Take care of me, alpha.”

“Kacchan…” Izuku sniffled as Kacchan wiped his tears with his thumbs. He loved Kacchan so much. He was the perfect omega for him. And he’d take care of his omega forever. Even if he couldn’t really get the words out now, he was sure to show it every day for the rest of their lives.
