Chapter Text
Stuttgart, 2024, Few months after Pascal's FE WDC
Ever since they got married in 2017, Rio had moved in with Pascal to Stuttgart, the Indonesian could say that it's the best decision he ever made.
-
It has been a while since Pascal and Rio did this with each other. The couple woke up way earlier than usual to prepare for the picnic. There's a big park near where they live, only a couple minutes by foot. Usually they go on a picnic because their children demanded it but today is different as it was Rio himself who asked for it. Rio, Pascal, and their two children walked together to the park with the children carrying their picnic basket since they insisted. The Indonesian sighed affectionately as he watched his children carry the basket together, with one of their hands on the basket handle while the other one held either Rio's or Pascal's hand.
"You two alright? Need Vati help?" Pascal asked the children as they got to the park grounds, the children shook their heads unanimously.
"Nope, we're fine! Right, Janus?" The older child, William, chirped before trying to get reassurance from his younger brother Janus.
"Yeah, we're strong!" Janus chuckled as they kept walking. Rio shook his head before ruffling his children's hair.
"Of course you are, you're both bapak and vati's children." Rio murmured before focusing his gaze onto the park trail ahead of them.
They finally settled themselves onto one of the picnic benches the park has to offer before setting up the table with the picnic necessities. Pascal and Rio covered the picnic table with a tablecloth before the children placed the utensils, food, and beverage on it. The spread consists of both Italian (Pascal and Rio's favorite food) and a tub of gado-gado that Rio made because the kids don't wanna eat normal salad.
"Bapak! Bapak! William wants some gado-gado!" William said as he's practically being giddy on his seat while offering his plate to be filled with the Indonesian salad.
"Me too..." Janus said as he also offered his plate to Rio.
"Calm down you two, everyone gets a portion..." The Indonesian ex-race driver murmured as he scooped up a portion of the gado-gado for his children before doing the same for his and Pascal's plate. He puts the tempe and tahu in a separate container so they can help themselves if they want the two soybean proteins in their gado-gado. He also set aside a small container for the sambal as well.
They then dig into their food, the salad definitely cured some of Rio's homesickness as it reminds him of the time his brothers would come from their morning walks and brought him a pack of gado-gado for him to eat for breakfast.
"Taste good as usual, Liebling." Pascal smiled as he complimented his husband's cooking.
"Well, I hope so sayang... I see that you decided to add more spice than usual." Rio pointed out as Pascal gave his portion another spoonful of sambal before mixing it.
"Yeah, I don't want my spice tolerance to fall behind yours." The German winked which elicited a bashful chuckle from the Indonesian.
After eating their salad, they moved onto the main dish which are pasta bolognese that Rio cooked and a meat lovers pizza that Pascal had cooked from scratch this time. The pizza isn't too large just enough for them to enjoy before digging into the pasta. While they eat, William and Janus told them about their school project that they're working on. After eating some more the kids decided that they want to play football, so Rio and Pascal watch them as they kick and pass the ball to each other.
Pascal then looked at Rio as he rests his chin on his hand, a slight smirk painted on his face before he clears his throat. "Alright Liebling, what are you hiding?"
Rio rolled his eyes playfully before meeting Pascal's gaze with his own. "What? Don't know what you're talking about sayang." He murmured playfully.
"Don't play coy, Rio. It's written on your face."
"Dang it, I thought I could be subtle with it."
"Spill the beans, liebe." Pascal murmured before pinching Rio's hand which made his husband yelp.
Rio sighed as he pulled out a gift box from the jacket he was wearing before sliding it to Pascal. "Open it, consider it a gift for your world driver's champion title from me." He winked as he watched his husband unwrapped the gift box to see a positive pregnancy test. After the last race in London, they got a bit busy in bed and Rio decided to test it out as the small symptoms started to pop up.
"You're joking?" Rio shook his head to the question. Pascal's eyes went wide before he rose from the bench and held Rio slightly above ground as he hugged him. "Mein Gott, you should've told me earlier Liebling!" Pascal smiled brightly as he looked at him. Only Rio could unlock that smile from his usually stoic German husband.
"Well, it wouldn't be a surprise anymore if I just straight up tell you now is it?" Rio chuckled again as he looked at Pascal with his adoring eyes before leaning in as he pressed his lips together with his husband in which Pascal replied with leaning into the kiss some more before they broke the kiss. Their children being curious decided to cut their play time short as they ran back to their fathers.
"What's with the happy face, Vati?" William asked as he tugged on Pascal's jean trousers. He smiled as he let Rio down from his embrace before letting William sit on his lap while Rio let Janus sit on his lap.
"Vati got a special news from bapak... Bapak is pregnant again!" The two boys faces lit up when they heard the news before cocking their heads towards Rio.
"Is it true, bapak?? Is it true??" Both of them asked, crowding Rio for answers in which Rio nodded. "Yep, bapak is pregnant..." The boys jumped from their laps before entangling their hands together as they chanted 'baby sibling' over and over again.
"So... How many are there inside of you, another singleton?" Pascal asked as he rubbed Rio's abdomen.
"No... I think this one is going to be a pair of twins... I can feel it. Probably a boy and a girl this time around." Rio replied as he rested one of his hands against Pascal's hand that was on his abdomen.
"Can't wait liebe..."
"Can't wait for it too, sayang..."
The couple rest their heads against each other as they watch their two boys excited for their new siblings.
