Work Text:

“Hey, Darien!” a guy shouted and ran up to shove the guy walking ahead of him in the school hallway.

“What the hell?!” Darien responded as he stumbled forward. He then turned around to see who had pushed him. “What do you want, Trey?!” he spat back.

“I heard you were talkin’ shit about me in the back of English class!” Trey hissed at Darien.

“So what? All of it is true,” Darien replied with a cocky smirk. This resulted in him getting shoved by Trey again. Soon the two guys were having a shoving match with each other.

A small group of students had gathered around where the two guys were getting into a physical altercation. Some were even chanting “fight, fight” while watching the spectacle.

Darien eventually shoved Trey so hard that the latter stumbled back through a classroom door and landed in a mechanical chair. After seeing exactly which classroom it was, Darien put up his hands and said “Woah, I am definitely not going in there.” The small crowd began to disperse.

The classroom door was shut from the inside by a redheaded student who was dressed rather formally in a shirt and tie.

“Well, hello there,” said William Vanderhausen as he turned to Trey with a cheerful smile under his medical mask, “Thank you for volunteering to be my assistant.”

Notes:

Written for Flash Fiction Month 2024.

This was a bit of a shorter one as I had fallen behind in my daily writing pieces. I had this idea of a student stumbling through the classroom door and landing in a mechanical chair in the science lab where William Vanderhausen likes to do his experiments and said student becoming William's involuntary assistant (or perhaps receiving a teeth cleaning). I just needed a plot to get said student in that position and I came up with this.

If you're wondering what is going to happen to Trey, check out my other works featuring William Vanderhausen to see what kind of things are in store for the 'assistant.'
