Work Text:
Working days and nights, weekends and weekdays, Mera Kiyoi had always taken comfort in the idea that his daughter, Chisato, was working hard with him to be able to provide for herself and their family.
Although his daughter was growing up with many nurturing friends, there was one in particular that had become quite special to her - the shy but helpful Saiki. Kiyoi had noticed the bond between the two had grown over the years but hadn't been sure of just how deep it went until last year when Saiki came to their aid in their hour of need. Kiyoi had been laid off from his job and was struggling to make ends meet when Saiki stepped in to offer financial assistance. He had seen firsthand the generosity and selflessness of Saiki, something he had rarely seen in his daughter's other friends.
But the help didn't end there. Through Saiki's willingness to talk and listen, Chisato had found emotional support in him that helped her through their trying times.
Kiyoi felt lucky to have such a caring person in his daughter's life. He was grateful for Saiki's friendship and wanted nothing more than for their relationship to grow and eventually lead to something more if that's what fate had in store for them.
He watched quietly from the outside as his daughter talked to Saiki with such enthusiasm, and he couldn't wish for anything more than to have Saiki watching her with his full attention on her and her only. He couldn't wish for anything more than for his daughter to live a long and happy life with someone who makes her happy, someone like Saiki.
Kiyoi knew one thing, and that was he couldn't be happier to have Saiki in his daughter's life. He felt that their bond was so strong, and he could already see it getting stronger. There was something special about Saiki, something that was hard to put into words, that made Kiyoi believe that theirs was going to be a relationship that could last for ages.
He was looking forward to the future and knew that whatever transpired between his daughter and Saiki, it would be something truly beautiful.

Mera Kiyoi stepped outside and walked past his daughter's school, the chilly autumn air sending shivers down his spine. He walked down the street determinedly, glancing around to make sure no one was following him... again.
As he rounded the corner, he came to a stop and breathed a sigh of relief. There, in the alleyway, stood Saiki, leaning against the wall. He rushed up and threw his arm around Saiki's shoulder, grateful for his help once again.
"Saiki, I can't thank you enough. Hell, I don't think I ever can," he said. "If it weren't for you, I'd be in deep trouble with those loan sharks."
Saiki made a dismissive gesture. "I know that whatever I do will never match up to what you did for me and my family." Kiyoi took a breath before looking into Saiki's eyes and gripping both of his shoulders now.
"I know this is nothing, but if you ever need a job, I know some people who I could put in a good word for you."
Saiki smiled gratefully at him, then nodded his head with a beautiful smile before finally giving his left hand a squeeze and walking away.
Kiyoi said goodbye, parting ways. Kiyoi knew he could count on Saiki. He had saved him from certain doom, and he would never forget it.

Kiyoi was walking from his house to Saiki school. If you were to ask him why he was going, he would say, "Because today I got the day off and I want to see my daughter!" In reality, he went there to see Saiki. Chisato took a shift in her cafe to bring more money to the table, and Kiyoi wanted to offer his support and help if needed. Ever since Saiki went to that school with his mom, the place became popular due to all the people she told about it, much to Saiki's dismay.
Kiyoi always felt like he and Saiki only met at one point and left it at that. But today would be different. Looking down, he saw the snacks he was given that none of his family liked. "Hopefully Saiki and his friends like them," Kiyoi thought as he pulled up to the school.
He got out of the car and stepped away, feeling a mix of dread and excitement. It was the yearly sports day at their school, and he had been given a free day from work for the occasion. As he entered the school grounds, Kiyoi tried to make himself as inconspicuous as possible. He could feel the eyes of the other parents upon him, but he kept his gaze fixed forward, towards the field where he could hear the growing sounds of cheers and chants.
Kiyoi swallowed, hoping he would spot Saiki among the swarm of children. But as soon as he reached the football field, his worries started to ease. He didn't need to search for long to find Saiki. He was standing at the sidelines, cheering on his school's team with his friends. They all wore their jerseys and their faces lit up whenever their team scored a goal.
Filled with immense pride, Kiyoi stepped forward. He turned around and felt a little embarrassed when he saw him. After all, he wasn't even Saiki's parent. But in the end, his heart swelled as Saiki shyly scooted over and gave him a tight hug.
"Hey! I want one too from my buddy's dad!" a cheerful, thug-looking person said. Saiki nodded and scooted back before the person grabbed him and put him in the middle of the hug before turning to Kiyoi to give him a high five.
"I want my buddy in this too!"
"Hey, that's not fair!" Another kid exclaimed.
He tried to peek over the tall man's shoulder to see who had said that. Before he could, more people started talking, saying things like, "Let me in this," and "I mean, I guess it would be interesting to introduce Jet Black Wings to Saiki's uncle." Oh dear, now they think they're related.
Soon enough, the group hug with three people grew larger as more of Saiki's friends arrived. Kiyoi turned to his left and saw Saiki's mom crying to her husband, saying, "Take a picture! A video! Oh, my baby has so many friends!" Even his dad was tearing up.
Kiyoi beamed at them. He was so proud of himself and Saiki, and he was grateful for the chance to witness their special sports day together.
