Work Text:
"Quit being cute, alright!" Dean lets out, and his eyes open widely as he realizes what he just said. "- pout?" He then adds, unsure, frowning to cover that his tongue slipped. “Quit being pout!” But Sam and Cas heard, and they both know this was about Cas, because Dean was looking at him before he walked away. But none of them says anything, they just frown as they watch Dean. So Dean thinks he is out of trouble, he sighs in relief as he fakes searching a book in the library.
But later when he's in the kitchen, Cas pops up. They stay silent while Dean cooks and Cas sits at the table with a cup of coffee.
"Am I cute?" Cas asks and Dean is glad his back is turned because he wasn't expecting Cas to throw that bomb now. It also prevents Cas seeing him with his mouth wide open, but with no words coming out. Despite that, he feels Cas's whole attention directed towards him, eyes piercing though his back.
"Why'd you ask me that? Some chick rejected you or something?" Dean tries to keep his cover up, he has nothing else to loose anyway. He can somehow feel Cas’s frown without looking at him.
“No, because you said that, Dean.” Cas declares, and drinks some coffee.
“No, I didn’t.” Dean answers, before turning around. This was not a good idea, because how could he be able to lie to those piercing blue eyes meeting his. And shit, Cas stands up from the table, leaving his half full cup of coffee there, and walks towards him.
“Dean.” Cas says softly, his tone is not accusatory. He sounds more like he's trying to reassure Dean, to tell him that it’s okay to say that.
“Cas.” Dean replies, looking down at his hand as he wipes them with a cloth, using the same tone he would use to say please stop.
“I heard what you said, I am a celestial being.” Cas stops on the other side of the middle counter, his hands resting flat on it. He wants to come closer, but he’s not sure how Dean will respond if he does. He can’t see it but Dean rolls his eyes at the celestial being part.
“Then why you’re asking me again?” Dean asks quietly, still looking down though he finished wiping his hands.
“Because – I want to know why.” Cas confesses, his voice still calm and soft.
“Why? Why what?” Dean looks up, frowning.
“Why do you find me cute? What did I do for you to say I’m cute?” Cas asks, he is the one looking away now. Dean’s eyes open widely, he didn’t expect this reaction from the angel. Cas doesn’t seem disgust by what he said. He is just curious about it.
“Huh, I’m not sure.” Dean hesitates. “I’d say it’s because of the head tilt.” He admits as he puts the cloth back on the kitchen counter behind him and leans against it.
“The what?” Cas asks, frowning and tilting his head.
“That right there.” Dean points towards Cas with his hand, then he adds, “you do that when you’re confused. Like a dog would do.”
“Are you telling me that I look like a dog?” Cas sounds almost offended, Dean knows because his eyes are a bit squinted.
“No, NO! I – it’s just that –“ Dean stops and turns around, showing his back to Cas. They stay silent for a little while, Dean resumes cooking.
“Dean.” Cas calls softly, still standing on the other side of the middle counter.
“You don’t look like a dog, Cas.” Dean says to the kitchen wall. Cas doesn’t add anything. He knows how Dean works, he doesn’t want to stop him when he speaks with honesty like he is trying to do right now. “You look c –. When you do that. The head tilt thing. Also when you smile. It rarely happens but when I’m able to make you – I. I don’t know.” Dean confesses, he tries at least, and he is not sure Cas is still there because he didn’t pay attention to what happened around him. He was distracted by his heart racing and his stomach knotting as he was speaking those words. But then he startles as he feels that familiar hand resting on his shoulder and looks at his side.
“You don’t look like a dog either.” Cas states and Dean chuckles, but then the angel adds, “I also like when you smile.” Cas admits, the corner of his mouth slightly quirking up in a smile. Dean smiles back, and looks down, his cheeks tainted with a light pink blush. “Let me see it, Dean.” Cas requests, as softly as he moves his hand from Dean’s shoulder to his jaw. He cradles it and lifts Dean’s head up, stubble prickling the palm of his hand, but Dean’s smile is already gone. He just looks like a deer caught in the headlights, green eyes wide open and lips slightly parted. Cas notices his eyes glancing down quickly and back up to meet his. Then he doesn’t know how the next part happens, because he was just looking at him fondly when Dean closed the gap between them and pressed his lips against his, one hand grabbing Cas’s collar.
Cas is taken aback, and it takes him a few seconds to realize what’s happening. That’s when Dean is about to move backwards, that Cas’s lips chase his. The angel’s hand is still cradling his jaw to angle him as he wants. The kiss turns deeper, needier, more desperate. Dean dares licking Cas’s lips to ask permission for entrance and the angel lets him, their tongue stroking each other’s. Hands grip on each other's body or clothes, anything they can find to hold on to. Then Cas nips at Dean's lower lip and a low moan is heard, but none of them knows from who. Dean is the one breaking the kiss first, he needs to breath, he needs his heart to slow down. He clears his throat and arranges Cas’s collar that he crumpled.
“I – huh – I should finish this.” Dean says, looking down at the food on the kitchen counter still waiting to be cooked.
“I’ll help you, Dean.” Cas offers, and Dean looks back at him, surprised. He spots Cas’s slight smile and smiles back. He doesn’t say anything, he just nods to accept Cas’s help.
Cas removes his trench coat first and then his suit jacket that he puts on the bench at the table. He starts rolling up his shirt sleeves to help Dean cook as he joins his side. “What should I do?” Cas asks and Dean glances at him. The hunter studies him, taking in the fact that Cas is basically naked next to him. He looks at Cas’s shoulder close to him. It’s not hidden under several layers anymore. His gaze follows Cas’s arm until it spots his exposed forearms. “Dean!” Cas calls, looking at him, he seemed lost somewhere else. It wake Dean up from wherever he was in his mind.
“Quit being hot, alright!” Dean lets out, his gaze meeting Cas’s, and then hurries loudly, “SOT! Quit being sot, alright!” But Cas saw the panic in his eyes, and also heard what he truly said.
“Sot?” He asks, confused, frowning.
“Yeah! Sot!” Dean tries, lying as strongly as he can. He resumes cooking, because he should definitely stop talking and looking at the almost naked angel beside him. Cas studies him for a few seconds. Then he wraps his arm around his back, his hand landing on Dean’s waist, and leans closer.
“I also think you’re hot.” He whispers to Dean’s ear and Dean knows his cock reacted to this, but the food isn’t going to prepare itself, so he decides to ignore it as best as he can. He swallows hard even if it doesn’t really change anything about his situation.
“So, you’re helping or what?” He asks after clearing his throat. “With the cooking.” He felt the need to add, as he hands Cas a knife.
“Of course.” Cas says, taking the knife from Dean’s hand, his fingertips brushing Dean’s skin on purpose. The hunter felt it but decided to focus on the cooking he has to do. It’s the best thing to do if they want to eat at some point. He probably needs it before what risks to happen next.
THE END
