Tim gets free coffee (but he pays for some girl's dry cleaning, so it balances out)

Summary:

Tim crashes into a girl, spilling his coffee all over both of them. He feels bad, maybe he'll pay for her dry cleaning? He gets coffee in return. Best. Deal. Ever.

Oh, and she's a reincarnated person from the real world, so she knows a LOT about the family (she spent a lot of time on AO3).

(This is really short, sorry!)

Notes:

This is part one of a series that is a smaller subset of a collection set in an AU of our Tumblr account. Check it out @gothamiteroommates on the hellsite!

Work Text:

It was on a Saturday that Tim discovered the best coffee of his life.

He was walking, minding his own business with a Starbucks in hand on the way to Wayne Ent. when he crashed into someone coming from the other direction. The girl (at least they looked female-presenting, he didn’t want to assume) shrieked in horror.

The bag she had been carrying was completely soaked in coffee, and only then did Tim realize that the cup he had previously been carrying was empty, the contents spilt over the pavement, his (expensive) suit, the girl’s clothes, and bag, and somehow, his hair.

“Shit,” they said in unison.

“Are you okay?” Tim asked guiltily. He might’ve been rich, but judging from her outfit, she wasn’t (not that she was dressed poorly!), and it was technically his fault that her clothes were ruined.

“Fine, fine,” she said, visibly exhausted. “But I think these are destroyed. It’s gonna cost a ton to get them all dry-cleaned.” She peered into the now-wet tote and Tim felt kind of bad for her; that was definitely going to stay sticky for a while.

“Maybe I could help? It was my coffee after all.” She looked genuinely shocked. Gotham did that to people.

“Sure! That would actually be fantastic, thank you. I’m Andie, I run a cafe a few blocks from here. Tell you what, I’ll give you free coffee for a couple of months in exchange for the dry cleaning. Whaddya think? Good deal?”

Tim nearly cried. The loss of one coffee, and the gain of over 182, all in one day?!

“That sounds great,” he said. “I’m Tim. Tim Dra-Kent. Tim Kent.”

“Nice to meet you, Tim.” she smiled, eyes glinting mischievously. They began the walk to her cafe, still drenched in coffee.

“Oh, by the way, what’s in the bag?”

“I make superhero merch. These are hand-embroidered BatFamily-themed hoodies.” she shook the bag to emphasise. Tim just knew he had to get one for each of his family. They’d love it, especially Alfred. Although, he’d have to figure out how to explain Penny-One and Oracle.

“Can I commission you to do a set?” he asked hopefully as they walked.

“Sure. I’ll show you my store when we get there.”

“‘Cool.” Yeah. This was a pretty good deal.
