Chapter Text
October 31st, 2018.
Satoru blinked, looking at you with wide eyes.
"Why the fuck would you jump in? Are you stupid?"
You had never seen Satoru so panicked before in your life. Not on the mission to protect an attack on Tengen. Not when he apparently had to kill his best friend that defected from Jujutsu society.
But now here you were, both sealed permanently in the prison realm, surrounded by rotting skeletons covered in a thick layer of dust.
"You're fucking stuck here now, y'know?"
"I-I thought I could stop it from sealing you in..." You look around at the grim surroundings, your own anxiety clear on your face. "Fuck! I didn't realize it would trap me in, too!"
He looked at you, his crystalline blue eyes narrowing as he frowned deeply. "You really are a goddamn idiot, aren't you? Now we're both stuck here forever."
Your big, stupid doe eyes blinked up at him, your brain physically unable to comprehend what was happening. It only irritated him further, but--
"Well, there's no point in dwelling on it now. We'll just have to make the best of things while we're here." He tried to sound optimistic, but it was clear that he was far from happy about the situation.
Something in his words rattled your head, breaking you from your stupor.
"Make the best of it?" you repeat a bit dumbly.
His eyes look you over with annoyance, down then up. "Don't think for a second I'm gonna thank you for getting us stuck in this hellhole," he says, beginning to glare as you start to pace around the room of skeletons.
"Oh, fuck you, Gojo! I was trying to help," you spit out with a scowl. "At least I tried to do something. You just stood there gaping at the cube like a fucking trout, doing nothing while the prison realm snatched you."
Satoru glowered back at you, his blue eyes flashing with anger. "You think I was standing around waiting for something better to happen?! I saw the danger coming, I was ready to deal with it, but then you had to go and interfere!"
He paused for a moment, taking a deep breath as you continued pacing about, each one of your aggravating steps gnawing at his frayed nerves.
"If you hadn't jumped in, I would have been able to avoid getting trapped. Now we're both stuck in this godawful place for who knows how long." His voice grew more intense as he spoke, his frustration heightening.
And you didn't stop your infuriating pacing.
So he continued. "Don't act like you did anything useful by jumping in front of me," he argued. "Goddammit, will you stop fucking pacing!"
"You're the absolute worst, I swear to fucking god!" you shout back, and decidedly don't stop your infernal roaming. Satoru only gets what he wants when you whirl around to face him, pointing a finger at him accusingly.
"You're the Satoru Gojo, Mr. High and Mighty, 'Ooo look at me, I'm the Honored One'," you sneer mockingly. "If you're so fucking powerful, why don't you just break us out of here then!"
The very skeletons around you chatter louder as your outburst escalates.
Satoru raises an eyebrow at you, his expression growing increasingly irritated as you berate him.
"Yeah, well, maybe if you weren't such a pain in the ass, I wouldn't have ended up here in the first place," he growled, crossing his arms over his chest.
He takes a quick glance at the decaying surroundings. And for a moment, it almost looks as if he feels the same sense of hopelessness wash over him as it does you.
"And yeah, I'm the Satoru Gojo--but even I have my limits, especially when dealing with barriers like this. If I could break us out, I would. This place is designed to keep shit trapped forever."
"Ugh!" you groan out again, then sink down to the dirty floor in frustration. "What's the good in being the most powerful sorcerer in the world if you have limits? I thought you were supposed to be limitless."
"Ha. Ha. Very funny," he sighs, rolling his eyes at your complaints, then flops down rather inelegantly next to you. "There's still limitations to everything, including Jujutsu. I can't even get a proper sense of the cursed energy of the barrier. I think it's some sort of pocket dimension or some shit that's fucking with my Six Eyes."
Satoru tosses you a quick look, and for a moment, you see brittle defeat written on his features. The look would almost taste sweet if it weren't for the fact that it means you're actually stuck with no escape, too.
"There's no way out. So stop whining and try to figure out a way to make our lives a little better while we're stuck here," he orders gruffly.
"Yeah, lemme get right on that," you reply sarcastically. "I'll don an apron and maid outfit and just spruce up the creepy fucking skeletons a tad to make you feel right at home."
"Oh, please do. Put on that damn maid outfit and see if you can make this place any more depressing."
You waste no time flipping him the bird.
He stretches his long legs out in front of him, pushing the grey dirt with his shoes a little. When you cross your arms over your chest and lift your chin an inch higher under his gaze, he smirks.
"Tell you what--if you really wanna make me feel at home, why don't you try sprucing something else up." Satoru makes a show of grabbing at his crotch, knowing full well how much you hate when he gets obnoxious and lewd like that. He even threw you a wink before adding, "That should make my time in this hellhole a little more bearable."
"You are the literal fucking worst." You glower at him, making no attempt to hide your disdain for the arrogant, self-absorbed asshole that was Satoru Gojo. "I wouldn't touch your dick if you were the last man alive. Which--" you motion around to your bleak surroundings "for all intents and purposes, you might as well be!"
Satoru was always able to get under your skin, dissect your nerves and poke them just right as if it was his fucking job to irritate you.
Even knowing this, you too often fell for every trap he set for you.
"Come on, baby," he said with a smug grin. "You forget that I know exactly what kind of dirty little slut you are underneath those buttoned up uniforms."
You didn't forget the one night you slept with Satoru, although you wish you could.
It was at a party Shoko had thrown, and of course, she talked you into going shot for shot with her.
And of course, you got a little too flirty with the other sorcerers, Shoko included. You had intended to catch the attention of a handsome new lawyer who had an eye-catching aquiline nose.
You drew the attention of your annoying white-haired, blue-eyed, narcissistic coworker instead.
But his hands were thorough when they raked over your hips, and his lips ghosted over your neck just right, and--
"I was drunk out of my fucking mind the one time we slept together," you retort.
A lie.
You knew you weren't so far gone that you couldn't consent.
You weren't sure if Satoru really knew that though. So you push the point further.
"Frankly, I should have called the cops on you the next day when I realized you took advantage of me, so maybe you should cut the shit," you huff angrily, and fold your arms over your chest. "Like you could ever get me sober."
Satoru grinned like the menace he was. "Yeah, well, if you have a way to call the cops now--go for it."
Then he leaned closer, as if to remind you there was little you could do about your situation, and whispered in your ear, "Besides, I remember that night, too. You weren't protesting too much when I was inside you. And trust me, princess--you'd love me sober."
When he bit at your earlobe, he lingered as long as he could, like he was savoring the feeling of your skin between his teeth. You swatted at him immediately.
"If you try anything for the eternity we're trapped in here, I swear to god I will not hesitate to kill you."
Being the egotistical prick he was, Satoru gave you a shit-eating smirk, feeling more than confident you wouldn't follow through on your threat.
"You'll try to kill me?" he repeats in a sardonic tone. "Oh, really? With what, your bare hands? Your cute little fists couldn't even leave a mark on me."
Anger boiled in your gut, churning violently.
You stood from the ground, if only to get a few feet away from him. But he stood as well, laughing mercilessly as he followed you around like one of those incessant gnats that buzz by your ear on a hot summer day.
"Even if you did manage to somehow kill me, princess, you'd still be stuck in this godforsaken place forever --alone. So think carefully about whether or not you really wanna take that risk."
Satoru reached out and traced a finger along your jawline, smiling when he saw you clench tightly under his touch.
"Besides," he continued, because the man just did not know when to stop. "I doubt you have the strength or the willpower to actually harm me."
Without thinking, you cocked an arm back and threw a punch directly at Satoru's face.
Even if his Six Eyes weren't working, he would've seen that attack coming from a mile away. He quickly catches your wrist, tugging you close to him.
"What the hell are you doing?" he asked, maybe a tad surprised that you actually tried to punch him. Satoru glances at your fist, mere inches from his face. "Are you trying to hit me? That's not a very smart move, kid."
His grip at your wrist tightened when you tried to pull away, but you didn't give him the satisfaction of wincing from the pain.
"Now calm down before you hurt yourself," he cooed tauntingly, smiling as you struggle against his hold.
Your glare is nothing short of icy. "Just trying to show you what my cute little fists can do. Or should I try something else instead?"
In one swift motion, you send your knee right into his crotch.
To both of your surprises, his infinity didn't block you, and he released your wrist.
"You bitch...!" he huffed out between gasps of air.
You wasted no time taking several steps back from him, savoring the way he doubled over clutching at himself, groaning in pain he so rarely got to experience as The Honored One.
"Sorry, what's that?" you laugh out. "I couldn't hear you over the sounds of your gasps."
You laugh some more. You even think a few of the skeletons on the wall laugh with you.
Feeling satisfied at having asserted yourself, you walk away from him to better observe the walls of the prison realm, pointedly ignoring his ragged breathing as he recovered from your hit.
What a baby, you think to yourself as he groans miserably once more. His RCT must not be working all that well in here either if he was in such a sorry state still. Or he was just being Gojo and acting dramatic. Who knows?
"Of every... goddamn sorcerer... you had to be... the one to... jump in here with me?"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," you say and wave a dismissive hand in the air, not bothering to even look at him.
With nothing better to do, you edge a little closer to one of the skeletons on the wall. The bones were discolored, blackened even in some spots. Small bits of connective tissue clung to the surface as if the corpse were in a perpetual state of decomposition.
Luckily, there was no odor, but the putrid look of the rot didn't stop your lip from curling up in disgust all the same.
"Blegh, so gross..."
"It's just a fucking skeleton," Satoru called out. "Nothing special."
He tried to walk closer to you, and you felt a twinge of vindication at the slow and labored way of his movements.
"Well, what else am I supposed to look at for the rest of forever?" you ask rhetorically. "There's nothing but fucking skeletons in here. Skeletons on the wall, on the ceiling, on the fucking floor. There's only a few sections of dirt over there. No food, no water. Is time even passing here?"
"I swear, it's like you constantly complain just to purposefully annoy me," he grumbles out under his breath, as if being trapped in an interdimensional prison realm was nothing out of the ordinary. "We're stuck here forever, so you might as well get used to looking at those damn skeletons."
"How about this--" You move to one of the largest patches of dirt on the floor where there weren't rotting corpses, and sit down. "I stay over here, and you stay on that side allll the way over there, and we pretend the other doesn't exist until someone comes to rescue us. Deal?"
"Fine," he mumbled, sounding not unlike a petulant child who just had his sole source of entertainment stripped from him. With a heavy sigh, he sank to the ground, and leaned his back against the wall between two skeletons.
"But don't expect me to talk or interact with you in any way."
"You're literally talking right now, so shut up."
"Technically, I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to myself," he says, spouting nonsense because he knows it'll get under your skin. Because that's just what he does. "Anyway, stick to your half of the deal. Don't come over here bothering me."
You bury your face in your hands, and mutter a string of curses under your breath, before attempting to block out the white-headed mosquito you were stuck in here with.
"Could you maybe quiet down?" Satoru adds in a snarky tone. "I can still hear you over the skeletons."
With your back to him, you raise your middle finger up in clear display, then go back to ignoring him, refusing to utter another word.
If you were trapped in this prison realm together, the best you could hope for was to keep your distance from him.
"Whatever, princess," he mutters. "Keep acting like a brat. Stew in your own anger until you die."
At this point, you weren't even sure if death was an option in the prison realm.
If it was, there was some small part of your brain that briefly considered that as an alternative to being stuck here forever with the egotistical bedbug that was Satoru Gojo.
