Chapter Text
Ash was confused. He had just won the orange league. He was being escorted somewhere. Drake Said that this was standard so he relaxed a little.
Drake opened a door that led to an office. We went to the desk and sat down before motioning Ash to do the same to one of the free seats in front of him. Ash did as asked.
"Now Mr Ketchum. This may be a bit confusing for you but as of now, you are the Orange Islands' champion. A few years ago it was decided that the orange islands were going to change into a format more similar to the other regions. We were just waiting for someone to beat us. Danny has already agreed to be one of our challenge 8 gyms changing his speciality to ice types."
"But what about the people that have beaten you before this decision was made, wouldn't they be better choices? I've just turned 11."
"No, we upped the difficulty significantly after we decided on this. We have the planning permission for over a dozen gyms and gym leaders waiting. You don't have to worry, you can still travel and gain experience. I'll be your second in command, I also have a secure phone with the contacts for the other champions, your Elite 4 and gym leaders, and of course our regional professor Ivy."
"Pika"
Ash felt as though that was Pikachu's equivalent of fuck and he agreed with his friend.
Ash took a breath. "When I'm travelling. When I get time can we go over the paperwork together so when I'm ready, whenever that is? I can easily take over."
Drake smiled at the young man he had unknowingly become a champion of a region, albeit a small region. He was taking it well, not leaving Drake to do all the work by himself.
Drake pushed the sleek phone over to the young boy.
"You will be able to add the phone numbers for family and friends in case you need them. Now we need to get your paperwork sorted and get you a permanent place to stay here for yourself."
Ash's orange islands home was once a small farm that was now in disrepair it would be sorted out for him, and the land he now owned would be made suitable for all kinds of Pokémon as he was a variety trainer. Once all the paperwork went through he could have all his Pokémon here at once.
That made Ash think of his next steps in his goal to be a Pokémon master. He was missing a few different Pokémon types. He needs to get Pidgeot back and see how Primeape is doing, 30 Tauros is a bit much, maybe find homes for all but 5 of them since Professor Oak told him they help some of the farmers in Pallet. And he needed to talk to Sabrina and finalise Haunter's transfer to her. She needed him more than Ash did.
He needs to learn how to Cook for himself and his Pokémon. First aid and foraging would also be good to learn. He could ask his mum when he gets home.
Nodding to himself he continued the paperwork permitting Drake to sort things out here so he could travel.
Ash collapsed in what was Tracey's bed at the Pokémon centre he ignored Misty and Tracey asking what Drake wanted and what took so long. The two eventually went to bed Ash rolled over so he was lying on his back turning on the phone. The phone had several apps. One seemed to connect to his Pokédex. One that connected to his bank account, and one was a map. That would be useful. A notebook he could keep things about his Pokémon in there and it would be safe. Things for online schooling, at least it would be easier than the packets that you could pick up at Pokémon centres. He wouldn't have the problem of doing the same work twice again. There were a few more apps but the next one had his full attention. It was a chatting app, the one where he'd be able to contact the other Champions, and wasn't that a funny thought that he was technically at the same level as someone like Lance Wataru? Ash tapped the app's icon logging into the app for the first time.
BabyBoy has crawled into the chat.
Champion chat
BabyBoy: hello.
BabyBoy: Can I change that name?
OldButNotWise: no our respective elite 4s named us and only they can change them. And welcome. I'm Alder of Unova.
TwoInOne: it's good to know the Orange Islands Finally have their new Champion. I'm Lance. Of Kanto and Johto
BabyBoy: I'm Ash Champion of the orange islands. But I'm from Kanto
SpotLight: aww Lance he's one of yours. I'm Wallace, one of Hoenn's two champions.
BabyBoy: why does Hoenn have two champions while Kanto and Johto share one?
OldButNotWise: because Wallace and Steven are busy people and Lance is a bit of a masochist.
RunsInHeels: ALDER Ash is a CHILD, don't use that kind of language.
RunsInHeels: it's due to their proximity and it is also due to agreements made over 100 years ago to stop wars from happening between both regions.
RunsInHeels: I'm Cynthia of Sinnoh. It's nice to meet you.
TwoInOne: we also have to have an equal number of elite 4s from each region, including myself. Myself Will and Karen are from Johto with Agatha, Bruno, and Lorelei are from Kanto.
RunsInHeels: Now that fact I didn't know.
ActsLikeICare: I'm Dianthia. I am the Kalos Champion.
LostButHappy: we dont have elite 4s in Galar. Im Leon btw Im 15 so Im not much older than you.
OohShiny: Sorry for being late. I was helping my father with some paperwork and lost track of time. I'm Steven I'm the second Champion of Hoenn.
BabyBoy: I know you said our names come from our elite 4s but why are they these and what about Leon where did his come from?
TwoInOne: mine is a reference to being a champion of two regions. Two champions in one.
OohShiny: I collected stones. Both gemstone and evolutionary.
RunsInHeels: my elite 4 have seen me run it heels to go see new history exhibits on numerous occasions.
SpotLight: I'm a coordinator. It references my enjoyment of being in the spotlight.
ActsLikeICare: I'm an actress. Don't worry, I am a caring person.
LostButHappy: I don't have the best the sense of direction and am generally in a good mood. My dragon-type gym leader chose my name. He's one of my best friends.
OldButNotWise: I'm the oldest champion but according to my elites I'm not that wise.
Grimsley often compared me to a child that still needs naps the ass
BabyBoy:..... I am Grimsley's son. Anyway, Drake said you'd be able to help me with understanding what it is to be a champion because I'm not very wise or smart. I'm very impulsive and don't think things through and often put my foot in my mouth.
RunsInHeels: but you know this and thus can improve on it. We all Had to start somewhere and then we had previous generations of champions to help and a fully functional elite 4 and gym system. You are the first.
RunsInHeels: don't be afraid to ask questions or just if you want to rant about anything. We'll be here. It might not be right away but we'll try.
BabyBoy: thank you, Cynthia.
RunsInHeels: you're welcome now I've checked what time it is where you are. It's late. I want you to try and get some sleep.
BabyBoy: I'll try. Good night.
