Chapter Text
Love won’t last.
In a mansion far, far away, a small ruby haired boy sat, crouching, hidden behind a desk. Riddle’s red hair covered his face as he felt helpless and worthless as his father and mother yelled above him, two shadows looming above him, inconsequential and nonexistent in their eyes.
Riddle has seen how his mother and father argued. He wasn’t stupid. It had started with small comments, then it escalated, turning into constant jabs, fights, violence, all in the name of former young love turned sour. Neither could last long, and Riddle’s father’s new… maiden was the last straw.
Shortly after his father left, newly divorced, his mother whispered in his ear. “Your father is foolish, longing for another. Our reputation doesn’t allow for love. Never.” Her hands tightened around his shoulders like chains as Riddle stiffened. Strawberry red hair went limp, stormy gray eyes dull.
Love will make you weak.
The only person you can rely on is yourself.

Love is a lie.
Inside a cave under the sea, where light didn’t touch, two mermen sat, one boy desperately working on a potion, the other, a eel perhaps, languidly watching the other.
“Hey! Zuzu,” Floyd exclaimed, as he tilted his head, his unruly black hair streak falling to the left of his bright teal hair. Floyd’s tail lashed around, stirring the sand around him. “You’ve heard about the mermaid princess that fell in love with a prince, right?~”
“Yes, what about it?” Azul replied, raising a perfect silver eyebrow as his dark purple tentacles continued to work on the complicated potion he was brewing.
“Wellll… don’t you think it’s romantic?” Floyd rested his head on the caldron Azul was working by.
“Nonsense, Floyd. Your jokes have gone too far. The only place romance exists is in folklore.” Azul scoffed, scowling as he lightly tapped Floyd’s head with a ladle.
“Ehhh…”
Who believes in something as foolish as romance?
How pathetic.
