Work Text:

“How was your time at the Senators?” Obi-Wan teases as Anakin flies the ship. Obi-Wan interrupts the silence.

“It was great.” Anakin states and then goes red. “I mean, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Too late.” Obi-Wan laughs and Anakin grumbles. All of the sudden the engine sputters and the dash starts beeping red.

“What’s wrong?” Obi-Wan inquires and Anakin looks at the dash confused.

“We’re out of fuel. There must be a leak in the tank.” Anakin informs.

“Why do we always have ship problems when you are flying,” Obi-Wan mutters.

“Technically, this isn’t my fault.” Anakin counters and Obi-Wan sighs.

“Can we land anywhere?” Obi-Wan asks.

“Yeah, the nearest planet is just trees, we’re going to have to emergency crash there.”

“Great.” Obi-Wan sarcastically states.

The ship enters the planet’s orbit and fire can be seen on the front of the ship.

“Brace yourself! We’re coming in hot!” Anakin shouts over the alarms.

Obi-Wan sees the tops of the trees getting closer and creates a Force bubble around Anakin last second. Everything goes black.

Obi-Wan slowly comes too and immediately smells fuel. Well, that’s not good, Obi-Wan thinks. The ship could blow up any second.

Obi-Wan unbuckles himself clumsily, his hands trembling. His side of the ship is completely torn, jagged metal pieces stick out. As he unbuckles himself, he finds a crimson wet spot on his abdomen, a long piece of metal has lodged itself into his stomach. However, he can’t feel it, his body must be in shock, Obi-Wan assumes. Obi-Wan takes a deep breath and slumps out of his seat, clenching his teeth in the process to keep from shouting in pain.

Obi-Wan looks over to Anakin and finds that he is unconscious. A piece of shrapnel sticks out, threatening to impale Anakin, but the front of it is facing upward as if it was stopped from hurting his former padawan. The bubble must have done that. With the Force, Obi-Wan numbs his pain and keeps the piece of metal in his stomach from moving. With great difficulty, Obi-Wan stands up and stumbles over to Anakin. He checks him over really quick and finds that nothing but small scratches. Perhaps he should have made a bubble for himself too.

He fumbles with Anakin’s belt but finally unclips it. Now for the hard part. Obi-Wan puts his hands underneath Anakin’s head and legs gently and bites his lip as he picks up his former padawan. The Force sends him a warning and Obi-Wan knows he must get out of there fast. Anakin’s head lolls to the side of Obi-Wan’s chest as Obi-Wan quickly rushes to the exit.

“Oh Force…” Obi-Wan mutters. He looks down and sees that the ship had crashed precisely in the trees, the ship wasn’t even touching the ground. The Force sends him a final warning and Obi-Wan closes his eyes. “This is going to hurt.”

Obi-Wan jumps from the ship, shielding Anakin with his body, as the ship blows up behind him. The impact of the explosion sends Obi-Wan and Anakin tumbling far away from the ship. Obi-Wan crashes through the trees with Anakin and finally crashes to the ground. His knees buckle from exhaustion, and he falls to the ground. He gently pushes Anakin off of him and takes a breath as he lies down on the forest ground.

Obi-Wan passes out multiple time from the pain before Anakin wakes up. Anakin awakes and Obi-Wan looks at him relieved. He then precedes to pass out again.

“M’ster.” Anakin mumbles, worriedly. He sits up quickly, too quickly apparently as he gets really dizzy. After a minute of steadying himself, he rushes to his former master’s side.

“Obi-Wan,” Anakin says, prodding his shoulder. He then notices the crimson stain on his robes and the long piece of metal. “Oh, Force.” Anakin looks at the wound unbelievably. The robe is drenched, he’s bleeding out, Anakin notices, tears gathering in his eyes.

Obi-Wan awakes again and smiles wearily. “Your… awake….” Obi-Wan says between breaths.

“What happened? Why are you so injured? And where is the ship, we need to call for help.” Anakin prods.

“The ship… blew up… Got us out…” Obi-Wan manages to say. Obi-Wan then hands Anakin his comm. “Put a… Force bubble… around you…” Obi-Wan then finally states.

“Why didn’t you put one around yourself?” Anakin’s voice breaks. “I need to try and heal you.”

“Too late… too much blood loss.” Obi-Wan mumbles.

“I have to try, Master.” Anakin pleads. “Please don’t make me lose another parent.”

Obi-Wan looks at him sadly and Anakin tries to heal him, but the Force doesn’t help. He’s too far gone to help.

Obi-Wan grabs his hand and smiles softly at him. “It’s okay… So proud of you.” Anakin sobs quietly. “So proud… proud of Ahsoka too… she has a good master…” He mumbles.

“I can’t do it without you,” Anakin states, and Obi-Wan shakes his head.

“You can… Just do what… you think is best…” Obi-Wan assures. “You’ll be fine…”

“No, Master! I won’t. I won’t move on; I won’t forget you.” Anakin cries.

“Then don’t… Remember and let that… be enough…” Obi-Wan gasps in pain. “Love you, Ani, so proud of you… Always remember that…”

“I will, I promise. I love you too, Master.” Anakin states, brushing the sweaty hair away from Obi-Wan’s face.

“Tell ‘Soka, love her… and proud of her… take care of men too… They need a… good general… good friend…” Obi-Wan manages to say as his mind starts to fade away.

“I will, I will. I promise I’ll take care of them.” Anakin comforts.

“Tell S’tine, love her too.” Obi-Wan fumbles with his hand and grabs a locket from his neck, hidden behind his garments. Obi-Wan puts it in Anakin’s hand and Anakin notices it’s a ring. “Give it… to her…” Anakin sobs more as he realizes his brother, father, former master was married to the Duchess.

“I will,” Anakin promises.

“Good, good.” Obi-Wan mumbles. His eyes close and Anakin starts to cry, suddenly Obi-Wan snaps his eyes open and looks at him worriedly. “Master?”

“Be yourself…” Anakin scrunches his face in confusion. “Be yourself… not Chosen One… Anakin Skywalker… cocky, funny, and kind… not perfect Jedi… be yourself… promise me?”

“I promise, I promise to be me, no one else.” Anakin sobs out and Obi-Wan smiles, he closes his eyes and mumbles out one more thing.

“Good… Love you…” Anakin’s bond with his brother, father, former master snaps, the Force mourns, and he cries in grief.

The birds in the trees flutter away frighteningly as a scream of anguish fills the air.

Notes:

Hope you guys liked this one! And that you all are having a great day! Love y'all 3000, and may the force be with you!

Plz comment/kudos if you liked it!

(Also, for the last part, Obi-Wan is telling Anakin to be himself because now that he's going to be dead, the Jedi will be hard on him and want him to stop being his reckless self, and Obi-Wan won't be there to defend him anymore. Hm, that sounds like Jedi bashing, so maybe it is a bit, I don't know. Maybe it's just the Jedi that are really strict that Anakin needs to protect himself from. XD!)
