Hitoshi gets up off the ground after being flipped out of bounds by Izuku. He slaps the other boy's hand away as Izuku had offered out a friendly hand in order to shake it. "I ain't shaking your damn hand," Hitoshi snaps, "Must be nice to have been born with such a heroic quirk."
Izuku gives him a sad smile, "No such thing as a heroic quirk. Quirks are tools that are there to aid you, nothing less, nothing more. Your quirk felt nice by the way, like I was in the clouds. I hope you're aiming for the Hero Course after this, I think you'll make a fantastic hero."
What? Hitoshi thinks to himself as the pair of boys part ways, He thinks that I'd make a fantastic hero? I freaking brainwashed him and he said it felt nice! And the, the quirk thing… Does he really think that? And what was with that sad look on his face? There's no way he could possibly understand what I've been through. Hitoshi continues to have thoughts regarding the matter and bumps into Mummy Aizawa. "Oh! I'm so sorry Mr. Eraserhead sir! I didn't mean to bump into you! I was lost in thought!"
Shōta hums, "I could tell. Midoriya must have said something to get you thinking. He does that to everyone."
Hitoshi scoffs, "Whatever. Not like he'd understand, him being born with such a heroic quirk and all, probably living it up at home."
Shōta lets out a huff, "He's been through a lot as far as the staff can tell. Definitely has a distrust in adults, flinches away from his classmates when they are too loud or move too quickly, skittish, stutters when he believes himself to be in trouble, refuses to speak about his home life and calls himself Deku. We're waiting for him to approach us, we don't want to overwhelm him."
Hitoshi stares at him in shock, "Why on earth are you telling me this?"
"Because I believe you two could relate to one another," Shōta answers, "Midoriya also doesn't care about quirks, well he does but in the analytical sense, writes an analysis on any and all new quirks he sees. Knowing him, he's probably writing an analysis on your quirk right now."
Hitoshi stares at him in disbelief, "You're joking right?"
"Very serious," Shōta answers, "The only person lucky enough to be allowed to read one of his notebooks was Nezu and he says that Midoriya's skills are top notch, taught himself apparently." Hitoshi stares at him in surprise, "But I'm not here to talk about that, I'm here to offer you a seat in Class 1-A. You'd be training with me until you're caught up to them and have mastered at least one weapon."
"Really? But I didn't even make it all that far," Hitoshi says with a look of confusion.
"You made it to the third event and you went up against Midoriya of all people without getting a scratch on you and without him destroying one of his damn arms," Shōta says, "Plus, I think you have what it takes to make it into the Hero Course with the proper training. You'd make a very good Underground Hero."
Hitoshi nods his head, "Yes please, I'd love to have a chance to be in the Hero Course."
Shōta gives him a firm nod, "Alright. Your training will start as soon as these bandages come off." He turns to walk away but Hitoshi stops him.
"What do you mean by Midoriya destroying his arms?" Hitoshi asks in concern.
"Knowing him, you'll be able to see exactly what I mean for yourself," Shōta answers and walks away.
Hitoshi makes it up to the stands to sit with his class and watches as the matches continue. When Izuku's next match is against Todoroki, he watches it closely. He tries to hear what Izuku is telling Todoroki but can't hear anything over the roar of the crowd as Izuku continues to break his fingers over and over again. It's after the last attack does his heart really start to hurt as he watches Izuku's unconscious form peel from the wall and drop down onto the ground with an arm and a leg broken and mangled. Holy shit. What kind of fucking quirk does he have that destroys his own body? That was awful to watch. Maybe I should go check on him… Hitoshi mentally slaps himself, why the fuck am I worrying about him? He'll be just fine. He'll be fine. Okay. Maybe I'll just go and take a peek. He quickly makes it down to the infirmary but pauses when he hears a slapping sound then a voice.
"Good, you're awake now," All Might says, "You were supposed to show the world that you are here, not put on whatever display that was."
"I did my best damnit! Kinda hard to fucking do that when I keep breaking my bones with this fucking quirk!" Izuku snaps. "And I've also already told you, I want to go Underground, I don't want to be in the Limelight, I don't like the attention! And stop slapping me awake! What the fuck is wrong with you?!"
"You are my successor and you'll be doing what I tell you to do," All Might states firmly.
Izuku scoffs at him, "You're fucking funny. Last I checked, you're a quirkist asshole who just loves crushing the dreams of a child then fucking stalking them home after you watched said child save his own fucking tormentor from the same exact villain that tried to killed them not even an hour prior!"
"There was no way that you could become a hero without…" All Might starts to argue back but Izuku cuts him off.
"Shut up! Just shut your fucking mouth! You just love to keep reminding me that I can't be a hero, that I can't do this and I can't do that without a fucking quirk!" Izuku screeches out in pained anger.
Hitoshi feels his heart hurting at listening to the pain in Izuku's voice as a third voice comes in. "Yagi! Stop treating the boy like this! Dear lord! He's just a child, stop trying to force him to be you! He's not you, he's his own person! It's his quirk and he can do as he pleases with it, now get out before I beat you out of here!" Recovery Girl scolds.
Hitoshi quickly ducks behind a trash can as All Might leaves the infirmary. Once he's out of sight, Hitoshi approaches the door again and hears sobbing, "Why can't he just leave me alone, Granny? I'm trying, I'm trying really hard to learn how to use this quirk but I'm learning it on my own and it's just so damn hard."
"Shh, it's okay, Izuku. Just keep doing what you're already doing," Recovery Girl soothes, "I called an old friend to help you so he should be putting in a request for you for internships. He'll help you learn the quirk."
"Who?" Izuku sniffles.
"You'll know when you see his name," Recovery Girl answers, "Now, let's get you into surgery so I can fix this hand. No more self-inflicted wounds like this or I won't heal them, they'd have to heal the old fashioned way, understood?"
"Yes ma'am, I understand, I'm sorry," Izuku sniffles again.
"It's alright, now go to sleep so I can get to work on you," Recovery Girl soothes.
Hitoshi turns and heads back to the stands, yeah, I'm going to keep that to myself. Never heard any of that. Never heard All Might, never heard Midoriya sounding like that, never heard none of it. Nope. Not at all. Eavesdropping 101, rule two, act like you never heard a damn thing.
It's a couple of days later that Izuku approaches Hitoshi just as lunch is starting, "Hi Shinsou-kun! Would you like to join me for lunch?"
Hitoshi gives Izuku a surprised look then quickly schools his expression, "What? No, why the hell would I want to have lunch with you?"
"So we can become friends," Izuku answers while tilting his head slightly.
"I'm not here to make friends," Hitoshi grumbles.
Izuku gives Hitoshi a pouted look, "Aw. But I think we'd make great friends."
"Well I don't, now scram," Hitoshi grumbles out as he pushes his way around Izuku. Damnit, why'd he have to give me that look? That was cute. Hitoshi pauses his thoughts, oh hell no. No no no NO! No thoughts like that, don't need to catch feelings, I don't even know him.
Later that day Hitoshi tells Shōta about Izuku trying to befriend him, "Midoriya is trying to befriend me."
"That's good, he'd be a good friend to have," Shōta says.
"No, I'm not here to make friends," Hitoshi states firmly.
Shōta gives him a look, "You say that but it'll happen, it's inevitable. I would know, I said that as well and I've been friends with Mic since my second year here."
"You? Friends with Present Mic?" Hitoshi asks in disbelief.
"Yes, he's an annoying cockatoo but I don't mind calling him my friend," Shōta answers. "You should give Midoriya a chance. He's a good kid, he's not one to judge and he could help you with practicing your quirk. He's odd enough to let you do experiments on him."
Hitoshi sputters at that thought, "God, what a weirdo! Why would he be willing to do that?!"
"He loves quirks," Shōta answers with a chuckle, "You'd probably get a kick out of it too and it would help strengthen your quirk as well."
"Absolutely not! I refuse!" Hitoshi says while making an X with his arms.
Izuku continues on with his mission of trying to befriend Hitoshi and feelings start to develop. He keeps trying to befriend me. Why is he still trying? I want to but if I do, I'd really fall for him then I'd be fucked if he doesn't return those feelings then changes his mind about me.
"He's still trying, Sensei," Hitoshi says as he plops down on the mat to take a water break. "I seriously don't understand why he keeps trying."
"It's obvious that he likes you and wants to be friends with you. Just try being friends with him, you may find that you like him as well," Shōta advises.
Hitoshi could feel a light blush on his face upon hearing that, "No. He'd just change his mind about me then I'd be without a friend."
"Why would he change his mind?" Shōta asks.
"My quirk is villainous, he isn't going to want to be friends with someone like me," Hitoshi grumbles as he crinkles the water bottle.
"Midoriya doesn't believe in villainous or heroic quirks. He's very vocal about it as well so you don't need to worry about him changing his mind, he wouldn't do it," Shōta reassures him. Hitoshi still has the blush on his face as Shōta stares at him. Why is he so hesitant? Midoriya would be a good friend to him. Both of them could benefit from each other, Shōta thinks to himself.
It's now the school festival and Hitoshi pauses when he hears Izuku's familiar voice, "You guys need to stop with the discriminatory comments, Shinsou-kun can do a lot of heroic things with his quirk like, interrogation, stopping hostage situations, having criminals turn themselves in, have a criminal stop another criminal, the possibilities are endless. He's going to make a fantastic hero then I'll laugh when he laughs in your faces when he proves you all wrong."
"How would you even know? I've never seen you hang out with him," one of the boys argues.
"So? I don't need to hang out with him to know what kind of hero he will make," Izuku retorts.
"You seem pretty confident that he'd even make it into the Hero Course," another boy points out.
"That's because he will make it into the Hero Course," Izuku says firmly, "I believe in him and I also believe that he'll be a great Underground Hero."
Tears welled up in Hitoshi's eyes upon hearing what Izuku thinks and how Izuku believes in him. He believes that I'll be a great hero. Someone believes in me. He doesn't even know me and yet he's defending me. He's so sweet. Fucking damnit. I knew it. I have a crush on him. Fuck. He's probably not even into men, if I try to befriend him now, I'd be fucked.
It's now Christmas break and Hitoshi is at the mall and spots an unlikely pair. His mentor and Izuku. What are they doing here together? He thinks to himself as he creeps over to start his eavesdropping.
"Alright, Izuku, since you got rid of all your Ass Might themed shit you need to pick a new color scheme for your rooms," Shōta says as he gestures to the bedsheets and blankets. "You can have one scheme at home and one at the dorms or you can go with the same scheme for both, it honestly doesn't matter to me."
"Are you really going to keep calling him 'Ass Might', Dad?" Izuku asks. "I literally said that out of anger and frustration, I don't need that shit coming back to haunt me if you three did end up ending his life. I really wanted plausible deniability. Plus, we're in public, what if someone hears you calling the former number one that?"
Hitoshi's eyes widened, Dad?! Aizawa is Midoriya's father?! Holy fuck! And Ass Might, that's funny, I like that. And wait.. ending his life? Ex-fucking-cuse me?!
"One, I do what I want and two, are you going to give me any hints on why you call Endeavor, Endewhore? And no we didn't kill him, jeez, we tricked him into quitting, that was Nezu's idea and we also tricked him into signing a restraining order, that part was Tsukauchi's. That dumbass doesn't read shit before signing things, it was way too easy to give me any kind of sadistic pleasure. Now, if I actually had my way though, I would have beaten the shit out of him for what he did to you. Fucking bullshit," Shōta grumbles out his complaint.
Midoriya has a restraining order against All Might? I know the man was an asshole to him but that sounds a little extreme. All Might must have done something really fucked up to earn something like that. Hitoshi thinks to himself as he continues to listen in, and Endewhore? What's up with the insults? I know the man is a cocky fucker but a whore? Well, it's possible. Hitoshi follows along with them as they move onto the next area and then hears something that makes his heart flutter.
"Plus, I'm interested in guys, I thought I made that pretty obvious but no one has seemed to actually notice." Izuku says with a sigh.
He's into guys! That means I have a chance? Could he like someone like me? Hitoshi thinks to himself as he smiles softly at the possibility of something more than friendship then frowns. Wait. I'm not even friends with him. I kept pushing him away. Fuck. That means that there's a good chance that I fucked up my chance. He goes back to listening then hears something that makes his mouth hang open in utter disbelief.
"It'll have to be learned during internships where you'll actually be able to engage in combat legally instead of acting as a vigilante, and don't think you've been forgiven for that shit either because you haven't. I still can't believe you did that shit. A fucking vigilante," Shōta says while shaking his head with an annoyed look on his face.
I'm fucking sorry! What?! Hitoshi thinks as he has a look of elated surprise on his face, Midoriya acted as a vigilante?! And he's not even denying it! Holy shit! This is the best day ever! And then he hears something that makes him feel like a total ass.
"Also, no more quirk talk, I know you've only had your quirk for almost a year now but you're a fast learner so let's put it on the back burner until later, yeah?" Shōta says as he gestures for Izuku to follow him.
Hitoshi leans up against the pole that was in the aisle he was standing in. He's only had his quirk for a year? That means he was quirkless. Was he a false negative? Or maybe a forced manifestation? Fuck. I'm a fucking dickhead. No wonder he gave me that sad look during the Sports Festival, he does understand me. I'll apologize to him by accepting his friendship and maybe pursue him if he's interested in me.
Hitoshi finds himself sitting in the Aizawa household a few days later and is internally elated that it was Izuku who forced the idea of inviting him over for dinner, "Seriously though, thank you for inviting me over. It was really sweet of you, Izuku."
Izuku gives him a wide smile, "Of course! And you don't need to thank me, I just thought it'd be nice to, you know, not surprise you at school with the 'hey, my dad, my papa, mein vater, is your mentor' thing."
Hitoshi giggles at him, "Yeah, thanks for that, you would have gotten a picture worthy look of shock though if you did it the other way."
"Oh man, a missed opportunity!" Izuku says with a laugh then notices the time, "Oh shit, it's late. Your folks probably aren't going to be happy with you staying out so late."
Hitoshi waves a dismissive hand and lies easily, "Nah, I already texted them and told them that there was a possibility that I'd stay here. Well, if that's alright with you that is."
A light blush forms on Izuku's face as he nods, "Yeah, I'm cool with it. We have the house to ourselves since my dad got called to go out so we can do whatever we want."
Hitoshi's own light blush appears upon seeing Izuku's, not really knowing what to think about that, "Yeah. Could like, watch a movie and just chat."
Izuku's blush deepens, "Yeah, that sounds nice. Oh! We got a roll of cookie dough in the fridge so let's make some before we settle down with a movie!"
Hitoshi gives him a soft smile and nods, "Yeah, cookies sound nice."
Hitoshi follows Izuku into the kitchen and watches him get everything out and ready to go, "So! How big do you like them? Small enough for the milk dunks or big enough to last a few bites?"
"What kind of stupid question is that? Obviously small enough for the milk dunks," Hitoshi says with a giggle.
"Wise decision, lavender boii," Izuku teases.
"Lavender boii?!" Hitoshi asks while blushing.
"Yeah, standing there looking like a cute, fragrant lavender," Izuku says with a sly smirk and his own blush.
"Alright cabbage patch, two can play this game," Hitoshi teases as a look of faux hurt appears on Izuku's face and places a hand on his chest.
"How dare you! You don't even know what color my patch is! The carpet doesn't always match the drapes, you know!" Izuku states.
Hitoshi slaps a hand over his mouth in shock as he blushes deeply and stares at Izuku with wide eyes, "That is not what I meant!"
"Oh I know," Izuku says in a teasing voice, "but now it's got you thinking."
Hitoshi's blush deepens, "N-no, it does n-not!"
Izuku tilts his head to the side as he smirks at him, "Oh, that's a lie. I bet you got yourself a lavender patch down there."
Hitoshi stares at Izuku in utter disbelief, "That is none of your business."
Izuku sticks his tongue between his teeth as he smiles at Hitoshi, "Imma take that as a yes. Very cute."
Hitoshi's face is burning up at Izuku's dirty style of flirting, not really expecting that to come out of the normally innocent seeming boy. Holy shit, this is some hardcore flirting. I don't even know what to say to all of that.
"So! Let's get to baking!" Izuku chirps out, ending the round of dirty flirting.
After the cookies are finished baking and are cooled off, it was time for them to pick a movie, "You guys have a lot of pre-quirk films." Hitoshi comments as he looks through the selection.
"Yeah, we're big pre-quirk nerds in this house," Izuku says, "You'll hear me throw out movie quotes and shit so you'll get used to it."
Hitoshi nods his head as he keeps looking, "What's your favorite one here?"
"Oh, Deadpool is a good action comedy," Izuku says, "Logan is also good but you would need to watch the other Wolverine movies to understand it. It'll also fuck your feels, I was legit sobbing at the end of it."
"Then let's just do the Deadpool one then, I don't feel like crying today," Hitoshi says as he puts the movie in and joins Izuku on the couch. As they're watching the movie, Hitoshi notices that Izuku is massaging his hand, "Are you alright?"
"Oh, my hand gives me problems sometimes, especially when the temperature outside changes," Izuku answers.
Hitoshi blushes softly as he takes Izuku's hand and starts massaging it himself, "Might be easier if someone did it for you, that way there's two hands working instead of one."
Izuku blushes and nods his head, "Yeah. That's nice, thank you."
"It's no problem," Hitoshi says as they go back to sitting in silence and watching the movie. Not long later, Hitoshi feels Izuku's head drop down onto his shoulder and tenses up. Holy shit. He's sleeping on me. What should I do? Do I just leave him or do I wake him up? He feels Izuku's grip tighten on his hand. Okay. This is okay. The movie is over anyways so maybe I should just go to sleep as well. Hitoshi side eyes Izuku's sleeping form. He's really handsome and nice. He rests his head against Izuku's and sighs as he lets himself relax. I really like him, maybe I didn't mess up my chance. Hitoshi thinks to himself as he drifts off to sleep.
