Chapter 1: Late night talks

Chapter Text

   Late Night talks

It's the next day, Lars and his amazing friend Sadie are doing the same shift at the big donut today. (A little over the top introduction but he really appreciated what she did for him yesterday. ) They pay little glances at each other, both blushing a bit as they turn away until a customer walks in. Of course, it's Steven.

"What." Lars angrily asks, he didn't hate Steven but he was annoying and hated being around him at times, he just knew everytime he would either break something or give him a hard time.

"Chocolate, please!" The chubby boy yells excitedly, he was a little more calmer today though and didn't ramble as much.

Lars throws a bag on the counter and gestures for him to leave with a straight face making Steven run out after yelling, "Byeeeee!!!" On his way out leaving the two alone once again.

Lars looks over at Sadie and chuckles while turning to the side making Sadie blush and look at the counter. This was awkward.

"So... it was a nice night last night, playing with the 'cool kids' and all, right? Hah." Says Sadie slightly nervously chuckling.

"It was cool." Lars said before turning to his pocket and pulling his phone out.

POV Sadie

'What the. Is he really just gonna act like that night meant nothing? Cool? That's it. I practically engulfed him. He acted like he liked it so much..' she remembered him calling her baby at the end of the night and blushes, 'so why...'

She's cut off as Lars levitates over her hand with his then sets it on top and start circling his thumb on the back of hers. She looks up to see a flustered Lars looking at his phone, biting his lip.

POV Lars

It's so awkward in here, I might as well just check my phone. ...I wanna say thank you for last night but why do I feel so awkward for doing that? Like it's lame or something? But, it's not, right? I mean, I'm just saying thank you, nothing else. So, why-

"So... it was a nice night last night, playing with the 'cool kids' and all, right? Hah." He was interrupted by Sadie's question while in his thoughts which threw him off.

'What do I say? I can't show her I'm too happy about it, I'll look stupid.'

"It was cool."

'Nice.' He praised himself in his head. He looks back over to see a visually upset Sadie. ' Not nice. Man, I didn't mean to do that. I'm such an idiot, damn it. I ruin everything.' He stretched his arm over to rub his thumb on her hand as an apology for what he said. He had fun but, for some reason it was too weird to say for him. 'How do you always find the words, Sadie?'

"Haha, apology accepted, I guess." She says looking up at him with admirable eyes waiting for a response of some sort.

Lars just keeps scrolling on his phone, thumb still circling, making Sadie frown a bit and look away going unnoticed by Lars.

Night time hits again and the Big Donut needs to be closed.

"Sadieeee! Hurry up before I walk home.. by myselffff!" He threatens, he knew she liked walking him to his house and him walking her to her house.

He liked it too it made him feel like a 'big, bad, protector'.

"Wait a minute!" Sadie yells back frantically trying to gather her things and a free doughnut box full of chocolate doughnuts.

Lars lays his head back against the wall waiting for Sadie, pretending he's snoring when she arrives.

"It's been 81 years." Lars says in an old lady voice making Sadie giggle.

"You need to work on that." She says laughing making Lars frown.

"I'll have you know I have the best granny voice in Beach City."

"No, I do."

He forcibly laughs loudly at that.

"Yeah, alright."

Sadie throws her hand on her hip and starts sliding her left leg.

"Lars, sweetie, dear, can you please carry grandma, I forgot my darn cane at home."

Lars laughs loudly

"Sure granny."

'She called me sweetie.' Lars thought to himself and blushed as he was picking her up.

"Oh my god! Sadie you weigh like a thousand pounds! I think I'm gonna collapse!" He yells half jokingly, she wasn't 'that' heavy he was just extremely weak.

Sadie smacks his arm.

"I am not that big!" She yells making Lars burst out laughing.

"I'm just kiddin'." He finally says after catching breath from laughing so hard.

Sadie scoffs and lowers her brows angrily. Lars looks over to see an irritated Sadie and felt a little bad but god help him he could never show any kind of apologetic behavior, it's like he was physically unable to.

"I said I'm just kiddin' sour puss, get out of your feelings." He says laughing again making her more irritated.

It got quiet and he knew that always meant something, he's gonna have to hit her with the S word .

"Sorry." He says while still walking, looking away from her, blushing.

When did he get so apologetic all of a sudden? When she was sad he felt bad but he usually doesn't care if... really, well anyone's sad.

"It's okay, I wasn't even mad, I was just doing that to see what you would do." She said laughing.

Lars blushes and lowers his brows, shoving his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Psh! I knew that.. just wanted to apologize for earlier." He whispers a bit near the end of his sentence.

Sadie blushes looking up at him, he notices and turns away

"What? Stop looking at me like that." He states, embarrassed.

"I-its okay," she pauses looking down to the ground and starts smiling, "thank you for apologizi-."

"Ahhhhh!! Stop being mushyyyyy!" He interrupts her and smacks her hand making her jump back.

"Wow, did not have to smack me."

"Yes I did, you were being hysterical."

"Define hysterical." She says laughing loudly.

"You." He says smirking.

"I'd say it's you." Sadie says back chuckling.

"You know what I think? I think you just started something you can't finish." He said smugly, laughing to himself.

"Oh, yeah?" She asks giggling staring at him as he laughs.

He snoops his head down to her level and turns to her to stare her in the face.

"Oh, yeah."

She looks at him an narrows her brow as if to say, 'Oh wow, I'm so intimidated'.

"Well, I'd say I'm pretty good at finishing stuff." She says smirking one eye closed and one looking at Lars as he begins to walk again.

"Oh? Like what?" He says thinking he's got the argument in the bag, a grin on his face, walking along happily, at times even doing a little dance.

She gets quiet and looks at him then scrolls her eyes down to his crotch area making him blush uncontrollably.

"Sadie! Shut up!" He says nervously and without hesitation, it was the first thing that came to his mind.

      "Am I wrong?"

"Shut up, this conversations over." He quickly says making her more eager to tease him.

"Over? Awee, but it was just getting funnnnn." She says in a sad pouty voice jokingly.

He gets quiet and looks away as he walks, flustered. Sadie continues because she's practically dying laughing at his responsive blushes.

"You tasted amazing though." She says a little too confidently making Lars look away biting his lip.

"Thanks, I guess."

Awe man. She was making him uncomfortable, damn it. She looks up at him with sad eyes.

"Sorry, I was just joking.." she tries to explain sadly.

He stays quiet and keeps walking until they reach her house, she didn't even realize which way they were walking, she thought they were going to his.

"O-oh, I'm home." She says nervously, kind of not wanting to leave his side.

"Yeah. Good night." He says still looking flustered and uncomfortable.

'I really ruin everything I touch.' Sadie thought to herself.

"Good night, thank you for, uh, walking me home, heh." Lars nods and begins to walk away before stopping.

"I-..mmm.. " he looks to the side on the ground then back at Sadie blushing, "mmm.. nevermind. Good night."

She sadly watches as he walks away in the distance. 'What did he want to tell me?' She thought to herself as she stepped inside her house and closed the door.
