Notes:

• and we're back! this is set ~2.5 years after the end of cmbm. i decided not to say exactly what year it is because i was starting to confuse myself :') if you haven't read cmbm, basically all you need to know is: almost everyone is famous, jingyi and a handful of the characters were in a popular drama called "the untamed," and also, jingyi has an enormous crush on a-yuan that everyone knows about.

Release date set for Director Mo Xuanyu's mainstream debut

15:20, 1 Nov

Mo Xuanyu confirmed in a statement earlier today that Blue Longing, his mainstream directorial debut, will be released in theaters next May. Blue Longing follows a young musician (played by Lan Jingyi) whose career and relationships threaten to fall apart as he comes to terms with his sexuality.

Blue Longing marks a milestone for both Mo Xuanyu and Lan Jingyi. Mo is best known for being the younger half-brother of director Jin Guangyao (The Untamed) and largely remains active in the independent film scene, garnering praise from critics for films such as Painted Face and Resurrection. Blue Longing will be his first film released under his new production company "Mo Village" and his first ever mainstream film. The film is the first main feature role in twenty-year-old Lan's career.

Blue Longing also boasts an ensemble cast, featuring Mo's frequent collaborator Nie Huaisang as well as The Untamed co-stars Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, Jiang Wanyin, Wen Qionglin, and Wen Qing. Rising actor Jin Rulan, son of Carp Tower Productions executives Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli, has a supporting role.

Blue Longing will be in theaters everywhere on 1 May.

• a-yuan canonically loves carrots!
• "a-yi" sounds a lot like what you would call an auntie/older woman, and after jingyi joked that he felt weird about being called auntie, a-yuan took him seriously and started saying "a-jing" instead. he's the only one who calls jingyi that
• a-yuan, oyzz, and a-qing are 21; jingyi and jin ling are 20. a-qing is an idol, a-yuan and oyzz are third-years at fudan university, jingyi and jin ling are actors and taking online classes as second-years
• in china, secondary school grads (provided their grades are good enough) go straight into a uni med program and graduate with a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery. a-yuan is in the 6-year MBBS program at fudan. fudan is one of the most prestigious unis in china!
