Homecoming

Summary:

The Reader is a young mother, struggling to make ends meet after being forced to leave her job at SHIELD. Her blond haired, blue eyed son Joseph is stronger, faster and bigger than other kids his age, which is no surprise considering who his father is. The only problem is that Steve doesn't know he exists, and the reader intends to keep it that way.

Chapter Text

Picking up the last toy from the floor and placing it in the basket, you let out a sigh. Keeping up with a normal three year old was difficult at the best of times, but one who may or may not have super soldier serum coursing through their veins? That was near impossible.

Though at times you wished that you had an extra set of hands to help care for your son, you never regretted your decision. Your decision to leave him, to leave SHIELD and take your baby with you. Of course, if he had known that Joseph existed, you knew that there would no longer be a decision to make. You would be asked to leave your job in order to stay home and care for the world's next super soldier, permanently confined to the house unless accompanied by him.

It had taken you a lot to leave him, but the quick succession of your pregnancy along with his proposal was all too much, and you had to leave, you had to get out.

You knew that if he found you now, with his son that he did not know existed, you may not survive the punishment, and therefore did everything you could do to keep him hidden. Homeschool, hats and sunglasses, hell, you'd be willing to move to Alaska and cut off contact with the entire world to keep him safe.

Somehow, though, you knew the end was inevitable. He was a trained soldier, the best in the world, his best friends were spies, assassins, multimillionaire scientists. You and your son were living on borrowed time, and he was closing in.
