Work Header

ice skating gone wrong.

Summary:

Getting back out to the car had been an ordeal—he’d hobbled the whole way, and he’d never been more grateful to sit down in his entire life. His ankles had taken a beating, in their adventure on the ice rink, and really, if it wasn’t for the way that Seokjin had smiled at him, cheeks flushed from the cold, Yoongi probably would have had a whole lot to say about the whole experience.

He smiled to himself when Seokjin kissed the top of his head, reaching around him to set his mug of hot chocolate on the table beside the couch. “My pretty baby,” he murmured softly, then kissed his hair again. “Feel okay?”

“Hurts like hell,” Yoongi muttered. “Come cuddle me, make it better.”

This is my gift for @heartsbells on Twitter, for yoonjin secret santa. Happy holidays!!!

This fic is a little bit outside of my comfort zone--I don't really write things that aren't smut, but I wanted to give this a try, and I hope I did it justice.

Prompt: domestic, fluff, anything soft... if hand-holding is involved then thank you for my life

Work Text:

“Alright, baby, in we go,” Seokjin said, wrapping an arm around Yoongi’s waist as he led him into the apartment. Yoongi hummed quietly, pushing his face into Seokjin’s shoulder, and Seokjin chuckled. “I know. To the couch, okay, and then we can get your shoes off.”

He half-led, half-carried Yoongi into the living room, guiding him to sit down on the couch. He knelt in front of him, squeezing his thighs gently. “Stay here for just a second, and I’ll get you some ice for your ankles.”

“I’m not a baby, Seokjin, I can take care of myself—”

“Let hyung take care of you,” Seokjin said quietly, patting his cheek as he stood. He walked out of the living room, heading into the kitchen, and returned a few moments later, holding two ice packs wrapped in towels. He returned to his spot in front of Yoongi, reaching for his shoes and untying them, tossing them off to the side. “Feet up,” he said, and Yoongi lifted his legs, propping his feet up on the coffee table. Seokjin kissed his knee gently, then draped the ice packs over his ankles. “Just relax, okay?”

“Hyung, I twisted my ankles ice skating, it’s not like I broke a bone,” Yoongi said. “And it was my idea, anyway, you don’t have to do this—”

“I want to,” Seokjin said softly, setting a hand on his knee. “Let me take care of my pretty boyfriend, okay?”

He rose up slightly, to kiss Yoongi, before he could disagree. Yoongi pushed playfully at his chest, and Seokjin kissed him once more, before straightening. “If you’re going to be taking care of me, hyung, do you think you could—could you maybe make hot chocolate for us?”

“I’d love to,” Seokjin whispered, reaching out to stroke his cheek. “I’d love to take care of my baby.”

“Not a baby,” Yoongi mumbled, as Seokjin turned on his heel, leaving the living room again.

It had been Yoongi’s idea, to go ice skating. A fun, new experience, a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays, their first Christmas together. It was something that Yoongi had always dreamed of doing, with a boyfriend.

Unfortunately, it hadn’t exactly worked out the way that he’d expected.

See, he hadn’t anticipated skating being as hard as it was. It always looked so easy, on TV and in movies, and it hadn’t occurred to him that movies and TV generally didn’t reflect real life. As soon as he’d gotten onto the ice—which had been an ordeal in and of itself, he’d had to lean on Seokjin the entire way—he’d fallen, landing right on his ass. His tailbone was throbbing, and he was fairly certain that it was bruised.

He’d tried to force himself through it, because Seokjin had been enjoying it, gliding around the ice like it was second nature. Yoongi had clung to the wall, dragging himself along on shaking legs in the rare moments that he wasn’t sprawled across the ice.

“Demanding,” Seokjin said quietly, but obliged him, coming around the couch and sitting down beside him, wrapping an arm around Yoongi’s shoulders, holding him close. He kissed his temple, then reached for the remote, turning on the television. Some Christmas movie was playing, one of the many that was interchangeable with all of the others. Yoongi would have had something to say about that, too, because he hated them, but Seokjin distracted him by kissing his shoulder gently. “I love you.”

“Love you, too.” Yoongi shifted closer to him, turning his face into Seokjin’s chest. “You were having fun, I’m sorry that I ruined that.”

“Oh, no, baby,” Seokjin said, kissing the top of his head again. “You didn’t ruin anything. We should have come home sooner, I’m sorry that you were in pain for so long.”

Yoongi put a hand on his chest, shoving lightly, and Seokjin chuckled. “It—I just, I feel bad. Kinda ruined our day today.”

“You didn’t, baby,” Seokjin said, tipping Yoongi’s head back so he could kiss him. “You didn’t ruin anything. It was fun, but I’d much rather spend time with my baby.”

“I’m not a baby.”

“No, but you’re my baby.” Seokjin squeezed his shoulders gently, then kissed his forehead. “I love spending time with you, even if we’re just sitting on the couch watching shitty Christmas movies.”

“You’re sure?”

“I’m sure, angel,” Seokjin said. “Now, drink your hot chocolate, and let me keep you warm, okay?” He kissed his temple, then trailed a gentle line of kisses down Yoongi’s shoulder. “I’m happy that we’re spending Christmas together.”

“Me too,” Yoongi mumbled, voice breaking into a yawn. He hadn’t realized how much the ice-skating adventure had worn him out, until now, exhaustion beginning to set into his limbs, weighing on his shoulders. “Glad to have you, not just… not just for Christmas, for… for everything. Glad to have you here.”

Seokjin smiled against his shoulder, reaching out for Yoongi’s hand, resting on his thigh. He traced his fingertips over the back of his hand, teasing over his knuckles gently, before lacing their fingers together, squeezing gently. “I’d like to be here for a long while, if you’ll have me,” he whispered, thumb dragging gently at Yoongi’s skin. “I’d like to spend many Christmases with you.”

Yoongi’s breath hitched, and when he exhaled, his breath was shaking. “I—” He cut off, swallowing, a lump beginning to rise up in his throat. “I’d like that. I really—hyung, I love you.”

“Love you, too, baby,” Seokjin murmured, pressing a soft little kiss to his cheek. “Who knows, maybe you’ll actually figure out how to skate for one of those Christmases.”

“Fuck you,” Yoongi said, elbowing Seokjin in the gut. “Asshole.”

He laughed, regardless of his words, and Seokjin couldn’t help but join in, shoulders shaking with his laughter. “You’re spending Christmas with this asshole.”

Yoongi huffed out a soft laugh, leaning in closer, so he was half-draped over Seokjin, nuzzling into his shoulder. “We can skate again next year, on one condition.”

“Mm? What’s that?”

“You have to hold my hand, the whole time,” Yoongi said, squeezing Seokjin’s hand tightly.

Seokjin snorted. “Oh, no, what a hardship,” Seokjin said drily. He kissed Yoongi’s hair gently, squeezing Yoongi’s fingers. “I’ll hold your hand forever, if it means I get to be yours.”

Yoongi stilled for a moment, then turned, twisting around to look up at him. He didn’t speak, as he clamoured into Seokjin’s lap, ice packs falling to the floor as he settled, straddling Seokjin’s hips. He set one hand on Seokjin’s jaw, free hand still gripping Seokjin’s tightly, before leaning in to kiss him gently, sweetly.

“Am I yours?”

“As long as you want to be,” Seokjin said. “I promise you that.”
