Work Text:
Taehyung's roommate is the most peculiar person he has ever met.
Honestly, when Taehyung decided to move to his university's dorm he was one of the few people truly excited about having a roommate. Taehyung loved making friends, he was optimistic to a fault, and just couldn't wait to form what he knew could only be a strong, everlasting bond with whoever would share a room with him.
After a few months of cohabitation, Taehyung wouldn’t say he is disappointed in his roommate, he is thoughtful and polite and overwhelmingly beautiful. Long limbs, broad shoulders, a narrow waist above wide hips - Taehyung is simply mesmerized by his roommate's appearance whenever they spend any amount of time together. His skin is pale and flawless, his lips red and full, his eyes soft but focused and his voice gentle like a purr.
However, Kim Seokjin - Taehyung's roommate - is also quite strange. He never goes to class, as he explained to Taehyung he has made arrangements with the administration to avoid going out in the day, something about a health condition, Seokjin said. He seems to be asleep for most of the day and Taehyung is pretty sure he leaves in the middle of the night every single night. They never eat together, Seokjin always makes an excuse and to be quite honest, Taehyung sometimes wonders if maybe his roommate simply does not enjoy his company.
Sometimes Taehyung really wonders, but even so Seokjin is always kind to him, encouraging and careful, appreciative of Taehyung's art in a way no one else is, he just gets it. He never crosses over to Taehyung's side of the room, never puts his music too loud, and is always respectful of boundaries. Seokjin is the perfect roommate but it only makes Taehyung want more, a friendship, a companionship, anything more than stolen glances and bashful smiles.
So today Taehyung has made the decision to ask Seokjin out for breakfast, before the sun rises and Seokjin has to stay inside.
"Hyung," Taehyung says a bit too loud over the sound of his racing heartbeat and Seokjin's eyes find his hesitant gaze almost instantly. His gaze is penetrating as always and Taehyung finds himself fumbling for words, suddenly shy under Seokjin's attention. "The sun isn't up for another hour so I was wondering if,” Taehyung exhales, “would you like to have breakfast with me?"
Seokjin softly tilts his head the way he does everytime he is about to refuse something to Taehyung and Taehyung’s heart drops disappointingly in his chest. Seokjin smiles almost tenderly when he says "I would love nothing more than to eat with you but I have a special diet…I am truly sorry, Taehyung."
"Right, a special diet…" Taehyung mumbles, "forget I asked, it's alright if you don't want to." Taehyung stands up abruptly and runs a nervous hand through his hair, "I'm gonna...go."
He doesn't stop even as he hears Seokjin's soft voice uttering a sad "Taehyung, wait," and in a second Taehyung's out the door, slapping his own face and ushering a bitter "Taehyung, you fool."
"So this is what happened this morning." Taehyung recounts to Jimin, his best friend, in one of his many, many Seokjin-related morning rants after three months of crushing on his roommate and not making a hint of progress.
"Look, Taehyung there's no easy way to say this so I'm just gonna go for it. I think your roommate is a vampire." Jimin says, his face serious as ever.
"Don't be ridiculous, vampires are extinct, there's been no sign of them for over two hundred years."
"Never eats with you, pale, avoids the sun, goes out at night, come on Taehyung this makes more sense than all of it being an elaborate strategy to avoid you."
Taehyung grunts and rests his face on the table in defeat, tapping his feet nervously on the floor.
There is only one way to find out, Taehyung knows what he has to do, but it could mess everything up with Seokjin. Even so, he has to know for sure.
Later that night, Taehyung only pretends to fall asleep. He tries not to move when he hears Seokjin's light footsteps approaching his bed and he has to make a tremendous effort not to flinch when Seokjin's abnormally cold hand gently traces the side of his face, the skin soft like silk.
"I wish I could tell you, Taehyung…" Seokjin whispers, he sounds sad and Taehyung’s heart tightens at the thought. When Seokjin's hand pulls back, Taehyung almost wants to chase it, to chase the cold but heavenly soft touch.
Taehyung waits for the door to close to step out of the bed, still fully clothed, and he listens for Seokjin's footsteps. Two minutes later, when he's sure Seokjin is gone, he makes his way out and tries to catch up secretly.
Taehyung is a little scared of following Seokjin to some secret location in the middle of the night but he can't turn back now. He suddenly loses track of Seokjin about fifteen minutes into the stalking and his pulse quickens in fear. Taehyung turns to look around and finds himself face to face with Seokjin, he didn't even hear him approach. Relief washes over him but is quickly replaced with worry when he notices how dark Seokjin's eyes are.
"Following me now, are we?" Seokjin purrs and takes a step closer to Taehyung who instinctively steps back.
"I-I'm sorry." Taehyung chokes out, his heart is racing and he feels so, so cold all of a sudden.
"I guess there's no point hiding it anymore, sweet Taehyungie, do you know what I am?"
Taehyung nods minutely, afraid to even move at all as Seokjin walks him back until his back hits a wall - he's trapped. "Are you going to hurt me?" Taehyung manages to say despite the fear.
"Not if you don't want me to," Seokjin answers sweetly, his hand gently cups Taehyung's face and tilts it to the side, baring his neck. Taehyung lets him and he knows deep down it isn't only out of fear.
"Taehyung, I can feel your heartbeat even like this, I can feel your blood rushing, rushing, rushing… I can smell your fear and…something else. Something sweet, something like..."
Desire, Taehyung mentally finishes Seokjin's sentence, he's trembling now, both with terror and anticipation. Seokjin's lips softly press on Taehyung's neck just above his collarbone and he shivers.
"Are you going to bite me?" Taehyung sighs when Seokjin's lips slide up to the spot behind Taehyung's ear.
"Again, not if you don't want me to." Seokjin murmurs and presses another kiss on Taehyung's burning skin.
Taehyung isn't sure what was the exact moment he stopped being afraid, somewhere between the first and the second kiss, perhaps. He grips Seokjin's shirt softly and breathes out a broken "do it."
Seokjin makes a sort of hissing sound and pulls back to look into Taehyung's eyes, his own eyes are now blood red, shining like rubies and Taehyung has never seen anything so beautiful. He seems to be looking for any sign of discomfort, peering into Taehyung's eyes as if looking into his very soul.
Seokjin tilts his head and Taehyung is ready to beg but this time instead of a refusal, Seokjin only smiles and says "not here, let's go home." Seokjin caresses the length of Taehyung's arm, leaving goosebumps on Taehyung's much hotter skin, and takes his hand like it's something precious, delicate.
"I thought you didn't like me." Taehyung pouts, making Seokjin chuckle, the sound so warm Taehyung wants to curl into it.
"I like you more than I should."
Seokjin’s hand is cold in his but Taehyung feels warm all over. It doesn’t matter what Seokjin is, Taehyung only cares about who he is and seeing him retain all the beautiful qualities that drew Taehyung in even after his secret was revealed - maybe it’s because of Taehyung’s optimism, but it is somehow enough to wipe all of Taehyung’s fears away.
Back at the dorm, there’s a moment of heavy silence and Taehyung isn’t quite sure what to do with himself. Seokjin seems to sense his hesitation and makes the first step to wrap his arms around Taehyung and pull him into a loving hug. Taehyung melts in an instant and his heartbeat quickens again from Seokjin’s cold breath on his neck.
“I like the way your heart beats, it’s like a song,” Seokjin says and kisses Taehyung’s neck a few times, Taehyung presses harder against Seokjin, hands caressing the strong muscles of Seokjin’s back over his shirt. When Seokjin teasingly nips at Taehyung’s skin, he gasps and grips Seojin’s shirt tightly. Seokjin chuckles again and Taehyung can’t help the whine that escapes him.
“I still want it, Seokjin.”
“I don’t want to ruin your shirt,” Seokjin says as he pulls back and grabs the hem of Taehyung’s shirt, asking for permission to take it off - of course Taehyung nods eagerly.
With his chest uncovered, Taehyung doesn’t feel exactly shy but something still bothers him. “Not fair,” he whispers, dragging both of his hands from Seokjin’s shoulders to the dip of his waist and the message is clear. Seokjin smiles and takes off the offensive article of clothing. Taehyung almost wants to drop to his knees and worship at Seokjin’s altar because his beauty can only be described as heavenly in the soft light of the moon, pale skin flawless and glistening, right there for Taehyung to touch.
Taehyung takes a few seconds to explore the smooth expanse of Seokjin’s bare chest, hands curious and delicate, and Seokjin lets him with a fond smile. His eyes are still red like blood, Taehyung figures he must be hungry but he himself feels like a starved man facing Seokjin’s existence. Taehyung finally presses back against Seokjin, chest on chest, hands drawing the perfect lines of Seokjin’s back like a painter on a canvas.
“It will only hurt for a second,” Seokjin says, gently tugging on Taehyung’s hair to tilt his head slightly back, his other hand firmly set on the small of Taehyung’s back. Taehyung is almost shaking with want, set aflame by the way Seokjin remains gentle even in a predatory position.
It only hurts for a second, a second where Taehyung lets out a whine that sounds nowhere near pained and only seems to prompt Seokjin to grip harder, pull Taehyung closer and sink his fangs deeper. Seokjin walks Taehyung back until his legs hit the desk and Seokjin, without even taking his fangs out of Taehyung’s neck, lifts him up to sit him on the desk, settling between Taehyung’s opened legs. Seokjin drinks slowly, runs circles on Taehyung’s back, massages his scalp, there’s so much tenderness in his touch, but what really drivesTaehyung over the edge is the way his thigh presses so insistently between Taehyung’s legs, right on his crotch. Taehyung straight up moans, feeling dizzy with blood loss and the almost unbearable feeling of pure lust slowly overcoming him.
Seokjin pulls his fangs out of Taehyung’s neck and smoothes over the wound with his tongue, lapping eagerly at the blood still sliding down Taehyung’s bare chest. When he is satisfied, Seokjin looks at Taehyung with so much adoration that Taehyung feels his heart skipping a beat. His eyes are back to their natural deep brown, still sparkling with something warm and loving.
“Thank you, Taehyung.”
Taehyung doesn’t answer, he feels so hazy, the good kind, like after a warm bath or in the fleeting moment between sleep and wakefulness. Taehyung lifts his hand to the wound on his neck and gathers some blood on two of his fingers that he silently presents to Seokjin’s mouth. Seokjin opens easily, licks the blood off Taehyung’s fingers and makes a soft noise that sends electricity all through Taehyung’s body.
“How do I taste?” Taehyung asks, hypnotised by the red staining Seokjin’s lips.
“Sweet, so sweet.”
There’s a lull, Taehyung’s eyes flickering from Seokjin’s dark eyes to his blood-painted lips and Taehyung doesn’t know what possesses him to lean in and lick them clean, not even bothered by the metallic taste. And then, Seokjin parts his lips in a surprised gasp and Taehyung truly kisses him like he has been dying to for months.
Seokjin kisses back ravenously, he tastes like blood and something sweet, and Taehyung never wants to taste anything else. Taehyung is thankful Seokjin had the good sense to sit him on the desk because there’s no way his legs would have endured both the blood loss and the dizzying feeling of Seokjin’s lips and tongue, the sound of his quiet moans, the cold pressure of his hands all over Taehyung’s body, anywhere he can reach and the insistent drag of his thigh between Taehyung’s legs.
Soon enough Seokjin has Taehyung shaking and gasping into his arms, swallowing every sound with a kiss, as waves of pleasure crash into Taehyung, make him plead and dig his nails into the soft skin of Seokjin’s back, and softly chant Seokjin’s name into his ear like it’s something sacred and beautiful.
Before Taehyung goes limp in Seokjin’s arms, exhausted from the feeding and the intensity of his coming undone, he manages to murmur a gentle “I really like you,” into Seokjin’s ear, and he misses the gleeful smile that stretches Seokjin’s beautiful lips. Seokjin holds him tighter, gently carries him into bed and for the first night - but surely not the last - joins him.
If Taehyung were still awake, he would feel Seokjin’s hand smoothing over his hair, caressing his face and carefully adjusting the cover over Taehyung’s almost shivering body. He would feel Seokjin wrapping his arms around him and resting his head on Taehyung’s chest to listen to his heartbeat like a lullaby. He would hear Seokjin reciprocate softly, “I like you more.”
It’s alright, Seokjin will love Taehyung when he is asleep and when he is awake just the same.
Forever if Taehyung allows him to.
