I was looking for a nice series of fics to enjoy Arrow/Flash crossover and though perhaps this one would be fun. Wrong. So very wrong.
There are so many things that are wrong in this story that I'd need a huge comment to address them all individually. The tags on this are either wrong or simply don't exist for all of the forced sexual situations with lack of consent. The women in this are so arrogant it's frightening. The literally lock Ollie and Barry in a room in their underwear and watch them on camera. It's all because they know what's best for them. WOW.
If there were men doing this to women there would be so much hate and flames for this story it would ignite this entire website. The sheer lack of awareness from the author as to what they were writing is appalling. It's beyond tropes of cute assistance to help friends, it's absolute manipulation both emotional and physical abuse. What---- WHAT? is this thing with it's ok to hurt/SHOOT Barry because he heals quickly? Wow. Again if a man did that to a woman the internet would burst in flames and the world would end.
This is disgusting. Is it difficult to ask yourself while writing "would this situation/behavior be acceptable if the gender of the character were reversed?" If the answer is ever no or maybe CONSENT isn't there. It's not a slippery concept in this situation. If this happened to your mother/sister/daughter/friend would you be outraged? The same for male gendered or non binary individuals.
Also just to make a point about gender and complete ignorance: While having sex for the first time ---- two individuals that know nothing about each other ---- Ollie slaps Barry's hand away from his penis and says, "no. You come only from me." or something very close to that. If a male gendered character did this to a female there would be an Armageddon of hate to follow. Does this author even understand that it's literally not possible for some men to achieve orgasm from penetration? REALLY? This makes me wonder what is appealing about this sort of abuse from a sexual partner. It's tantamount to rape in that context and all the emotional blathering about Barry wanting to be fucked isn't going to change it. Also just from the wording about how Ollie hits Barry's prostate it's very clear that the author has never used any information on anatomy to get the least clue about anal sex with men. Unless there is something very strange about the anatomy of the guy inserting his penis then he'll stimulate his partners prostate on every stroke and there really isn't a "nailing" component there, not any more than a guy can "nail" a woman's G spot. The penis slides against it, it passes it, it strokes it, etc. it doesn't bang it or nail it. Euphemisms to the contrary, this is just basic plumbing mechanics. Really, adults with basic awareness of anatomy know this. It's not cute, it's not clever, it's just awful writing.
I'm going to comment again on the lack of consent and voyeurism - Ollie and Barry are shoved and locked in a room with cameras and watched then with NO consent the door is opened and they're intimate behavior becomes a joke for a punchline. How is this amusing or entertaining at this point in time?
I know nothing of the author but the evidence from this story would indicate they're very young and immature and dabbling in adult porn or that they're unsure of what consent means in any sense of the word, or they don't understand sexism in any form. Possibly they just don't care. I'm really not sure if there even more issues on the table because I've used all my tolerance to get this much into a semi-coherent comment so that all of my friends and family that read my notes will be warned to avoid this vile piece of toxic behavior put into words.
