Summary
The year is 1931. Alastor Duvernay is a man of rituals: the perfect roux, the perfect broadcast, and the perfect kill. When a wealthy patron invites the "Voice of New Orleans" to D.C. to usher in the era of video, Alastor expects a tedious display of modern vanity. Instead, he discovers the young technician Vincent, who sparks a deep interest in him.

Vincent and Alastor have started settling into their new studio, and as Alastor’s popularity rises, he’s asked to host a nationwide broadcast. Vincent is determined to support him; so when he gets hurt at the beginning of that week leading up to the event, he stays quiet.
