Summary
On nights when he couldn’t sleep, plagued by some unidentifiable feeling of foreboding, he watched himself in the mirror. Sebastian tried to convince himself of his own sanity, even as his reflection morphed into something unrecognizable. One second he would see himself, normal and whole, and then he’d blink and see someone- something horrifying. Something with far too many teeth and knowing, ancient eyes, whose skin looked too tight on a skeletal frame that seemed just a bit too off to be human. Focusing on any details just returned the visage to normal, like the wrongness that permeated this place could only be noticed but not truly seen.
He wondered how Kimi had dealt with this, but Sebastian doubted he had at all. Kimi had never quite bought into the legend of Ferrari. Maybe that had saved him. Maybe Charles’ unwavering faith in exactly that was what would damn him.
