Summary
There’s a man standing outside of Renjun’s apartment with his life packed into a suitcase and several, modestly sized cardboard boxes. His hair is black. His slacks are gray. The dress-shirt rolled up around his forearms, white. He’s got eyes that are big and round and gooey in the way brown sugar boba and half-melted chocolate chips are, even though the rest of his face is pensive. His tongue pokes out of his mouth as he fishes for a set of keys in his front pocket. It’s kind of cute.
Renjun hates that it’s kind of cute. Hates him as a whole, actually. Because in case anyone’s forgotten, this is supposed to be Renjun’s apartment, and Renjun’s apartment alone.
Renjun's old apartment is infamously (and in his opinion, expertly) haunted by none other than himself. Mark Lee decides to move in anyways.

Summary
Renjun waits until Chenle is taking a sip of his tea to tell him, “I’m sleeping with my husband."
Chenle doesn’t quite do a spit-take, but he does start sputtering. “That’s great,” he says, once he recovers. The look on his face says otherwise. “I’m happy for you."
It is kind of great, actually. Or it would be, if Renjun hadn't married Mark for the sole purpose of keeping his visa.
Or: Within the span of one year Mark and Renjun go from being strangers, to friends, to friends with benefits, to lovers. Throughout it all, they're husbands.

Summary
By the end of the day, Renjun must finish three impossible tasks. Convince the CRA to let him take over his parents’ laundromat. Finally host his father’s memorial. And get Mark Lee to break up with him.
Renjun has never been one for accomplishing the impossible, his life up until now boring and predestined. His parents left home for this quiet town in Canada when he was 7. He did two years at the community college to get a humble Associates Degree. He’s spent endless days watching dryers spin around and around. He’s never accomplished the impossible, and he hasn’t accomplished much else either.
He tells himself that this is the way it has to be. Some people just don’t get to have a story. Some people are meant to be stressed about money, and have the same conversations with their mom over and over, and spend their life thinking about what they could have done instead.
The most interesting thing that has ever happened to him is Mark, but that has to end now.
Until Mark is suddenly telling Renjun that he's from another universe, and to trust no one.
Renjun’s life here is supposed to be boring. That doesn’t mean it is boring everywhere else.

Summary
Mark is unsure of many things, unsure why he fears the things he fears, unsure of the words he has to say at moments he's expected to say them. The only thing he’s sure of is that being drawn to Renjun was in no way his intention, so is falling for him.

Summary
Mark’s head was spinning. Everything he had ever wanted and more had just fallen into his lap in an instant. The very prince he had yearned for all throughout his teenage years and into his early adulthood was looking only at him, holding his hand as he asked Mark to protect him. It was a dream far beyond even Mark’s wildest fantasies, too perfect even to consider.
Mark and Renjun are soulmates in a world where being away from your soulmate can lead to excruciating pain and even death.
note: this fic will be updated eventually but ch 1 can stand on it's own :)
