Misses Clause 2012
Misses Clause is a challenge within a challenge, dedicated to increasing the presence, agency, and general awesome of women in Yuletide fandoms.
The Misses Clause Collection is open to any Yuletide 2012, Yuletide Madness 2012, or New Years Resolution 2013 submissions that focus on female, trans, or nonbinary characters, or those that explicitly pass the Bechdel test: fics that feature 1) at least two women, 2) who have at least one conversation, 3) about something other than a man. So go fourth, fic, and sing the praises of female characters everywhere!

Celia's feelings were not new in the origin. They were not the moment of a chance meeting in a bucolic dell or in a marble hall. No, these feelings were the result of years of earnest study of her cousin's most deserving nature. It were easy to divine a divine nature to a stranger. Her most beloved cousin, was no divine. She snored a tiny noise in her throat. She had a wicked temper and a more cleverly wicked humor. Her jests some betimes could sting. Yet, these feelings not asked for, and not desired, they had grown clever weeds in Celia's heart that then bloomed into brilliant flowers.

Marie could have managed horrible dreams. The soldiers who returned from the trenches missing arms and echoes in their eyes, they had horrible dreams. Everyone had nightmares. She dreamed of Papa tangled in the barbed wire, split in half by a winter hail of bullets as he drowned in mud, but that was normal.
Instead, ever and even before the Great War to end all Wars, horrible thoughts constantly bubbled up. Marie didn't know where the thoughts came from or even why.
The Comtesse Melusine de l'Eau could have told her that they came from under the skin.
